    ... the streets. After visiting the workshops where these are crafted we got to walk all along the full height of these remarkable structures. Then is was back to the ship, Tonight we have dinner with the cruise director on our last formal night.

    This will be my last blog. We get to Tokyo tomorrow and disembark. We will not have internet after this afternoon.

    This afternoon we were ported at Aomori. This is a northern Japanese city (they get an average of 25 feet of snow a year). Aomori is a purely modern city—it was heavily bombed in 1945. We spent the afternoon in a nearby city, Hirosaki.

    ... burial pits and jars as well as pottery and stone implements have been found and are on display. 15 pit dwellings have been reconstructed but around 550 have been found. Adult and child burial pits have been found along with the foundations of a 10 metre long pit dwelling most probably used as a meeting place.the work being carried out here is amazing and fascinating.
