Historical Traveler Reviews Hyatt West Hollywood On Sunset

Contrary to some reviews...

from anonymous

I travel frequently and stay in many nice hotels. I had read the reviews of the "Riot House" with some trepidation. I have to say, our stay was excellent. The staff was courteous and helpful, the view great. We requested a room to the rear of the hotel and had a quiet night's sleep. It was not the pinnacle of luxury but well worth the money we paid.

Party central!

from anonymous

This hotel is definitely not a family resort. This is a party hotel.

Unless you're passed out drunk chances are you won't fall asleep. But if that, to you, describes a vacation (like it does for me!) then this place is great! Check out the mechanical bull at the restaurant next door....

Great Place to Host a Party!

from anonymous

I found this hotel OK. The design on the carpet was enough to induce vertigo but the staff was great as was the free Internet access above the lobby. I hosted a party attended by 17 people in my standard-sized room and had no complaints. Also, being a vegetarian, there was a cool vegan restaurant right across the street. If you want to increase your chances of getting a good night sleep, request a room NOT facing Sunset Blvd.

What a let down!

Don't bother - very shabby. The friendly staff were the only thing going for this hotel.

I expected too much

I have always known of the standards behind the name Hyatt. It was unfortunate this property did no keep up to its reputation.

The lobby and the hotel entrance were kept clean and very nice. The staff was stuffy.

We were looking forward to taking a quick nap before meeting friend for dinner.

The bellhop forgot to take our luggage to our room. We had to bring the cart full of luggage up ourselves.

When we got our room, the beds were undone. I was shocked and called the front desk immediately. They were more concerned about what the system is telling her and insisted that the room is clean and made. She was wasting our naptime!

Finally, she was willing to give us another room and told me to go back to the front desk and get the key for the new room. NOT! She then told me she was going to meet me outside the new room so she could give us the key. 20 minutes later, we decided to go get the room key ourselves.

Although the room was clean, the standards were not that of a Hyatt.

Never got to take a nap!

Really awful hotel...!!

Really awful hotel...!!

Rooms ...shabby awful furniture, carpet so dirty,it made you cringe to put your feet on it!! Bathroom sink cracked. Could only open balcony door ..four inches..as they had put a stop on opening them!! Parking a rip off. Also double charged us for the stay ...

Am still waiting for credit card to be refunded.

Night...don`t expect much sleep until the clubs turn out...so noisy!!

Just so bad !!

Beautiful view from the rooftop pool, but don't plan on sleeping there.

from FresnoCA

Friendly and helpful front staff, but housekeeping staff wakes you up promptly at 8 a.m. by knocking on your door. No "Do Not Disturb" signs available.

"House of Blues" next door and patrons park in the same parking lot as motel. Was quite the happening place even on a Thursday night. Don't plan on getting to bed early or sleeping in here.

Motel charges $18/night parking. Motel has room service and also one can eat at the restaurant located in the hotel. Other popular restaurants within walking distance.

Very nice view overlooking the city from the rooftop pool.

Average in cleanliness. Spots on carpet, but clean bed sheets.

A long time rock n' roll, Hollywood celebrity made his stay in this West Hollywood motel the same night that I stayed there.

No complaints

from anonymous

We booked the room through priceline and got it for $55 a night. Yes you had to pay for parking, but then in most big cities I've found that parking does cost some money. Like the previous reviewer said there is very little alternatives. The pool and view were great, the room clean and big with a view of the hills behind. The staff very helpful and friendly.

The only problem was they were remodeling and the workout room wasn't available, but they had the pool. They also had free computer access with no charge for the internet. A big bonus in my book!

I would definately stay there again.

What a Scam!!

from anonymous

If you are thinking about staying at the Hyatt hotel on the Sunset Strip, think twice. The rooms are not very luxerious for the price and the service is awful. In addition, they try to scam you for every dollar you have. Parking is 18$ per day and night with no other alternatives in the area. They even tried to double charge per day.

When I heard the name Hyatt, I thought this is a very trustworthy name that shouts out elegance, well I was disappointed. The worst part is, a friend of mine was sick in the room and they charged me a WHOPPING 300$US CLEAN UP FEES ON MY VISA. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Holiday Inn was more luxurious than this place.

Hyatt on sunset good enough

from anonymous

Stayed in the Hyatt on Sunset Blvd. 6-09-03. We had a great view, decent service and absolutely no complaints. Saw a couple of celebrities just two doors down at the Katana (wonderful) restaraunt. Skyy bar across the street was great also. Best of all, we booked through priceline for $75 a night.

The bus ride was uneventful, with scenic view of the Mojave Desert. However, what we hadn’t realised was that we were on the Chinatown express, and found ourselves dropped off in Chinatown LA, exactly the opposite side of town that we wanted to be. With no taxis in sight, we headed into a nearby hotel, who took pity on us and …

An early start this morning as I had to go and pick up the rental car from the airport at 9am and checkout of the Signature by 11am. Katrina and I went and picked up the car while Kate took the kids for a swim at the main MGM pool. The river pool was open this time so Hannah & Lily could at least experience it once before we went. We made a …

A bit of a sleep in then up and at 'em. A short 10 minute drive took us to Universal Studios this morning. We made it there in plenty of time and Katrina in her wisdom had organised front of line passes which meant we were able to bypass the queue for all the rides and most of the shows had a short meet and greet/photos with cast members after each …
