The river itself was interesting as they actually reversed the flow away from Lake Michigan in the early 1900's because 20% of the residents were dying from illnesses such as cholera and typhoid from the waste flowing down into the lake, which is their drinking supply. The lake is beautiful and the view of the shoreline was outstanding.
