... looking forward to spending much more time in Guangzhou as it is far more developed than Qingyuan. In fact people in Guangzhou joke that you know Qingyuan is a poorer, more remote, and less developed town because it has cleaner air and water! I have explored Qingyuan a little bit but it does not seem to have very much going on as far as night life. I hope to explore some its natural attractions which include hot springs, mountains, and forested areas.
Guangzhou, Guangdong, China nonlinear... nice. I told him that I would like to find a similar one to give as a gift for Aaron once I got back to the States. Without a thought he told me that I could have the paddle that the students had just given him. I was very surprised as it was a very nice paddle and had never been played with. I told him that
Aaron would be very happy. Connie then told me that this was type of paddle was the same kind that the Chinese national team uses. She said that it was very expensive and ...

Dongguan, Guangdong, China m.awot... or be really lucky. There is no computer ordering system or easy way to go about getting these tickets. We weren't lucky because we wanted tickets to go to Shanghai and then on to Hong Kong; but after trying for 3 days straight we just thought gave up. We had heard of Guangzhou and knew it was really close to Hong Kong... so if worst came to worst we could take a bus or even rent a car to get from ...
Guangzhou, Guangdong, China 000007428... never ever waste your time coming back for a second time. This spralling theme park stretches over several hills and valleys. Because of this, you'll find yourself doing a lot of stair climbing. Infact getting from the park entrance to the actual area of the park that is open takes a good 2hrs, requiring two cable car rides, a small train ride and a hell of a lot of stairs. Through your 2hr trek, you will see ...
Imtin, Guangdong, China billy.chanBaoan is located outside of the Shenzhen Protected Economic Zone, and thus there is a border crorssing fee to "enter China". The school that I taught at (though I still lived in She Kou) was a private school, whereas the school in She Kou was a public Kindergarten school. I taught in Baoan in the 2003, whereas I taught in She Kou in 2002-2003.
Baoan, Guangdong, China mradavies... we can't watch the weather on the news and weather.com doesn't know that Qing Xi, China exists. The rain did not stop until about 4 AM on Saturday morning. There was a lot of flooding and it was not possible for us to leave the town of Qing Xi. All of the roads were flooded. We were driving around on Saturday and we saw some areas that were severly damaged. Some people's crops were ...
Dongguan, Guangdong, China tomlacey... of slabs of broken concrete, it is covered in sweeping clouds of sandy dust as if a desert were encroaching on town. Where there is no road at all, we drive and pitch across building sites which threaten to destroy the vehicle's suspension. Like the businesses trying to get ahead, the traffic is a snarling, jostling mess, not going anywhere fast. Even my favourite improvised Mad Max tractor trailers are ...
Southern Guangdong, China robjstaples... only thing to do is to metaphorically give yourself a whack around the head, question what you want to do and act. It was probably worse because there were two of us loafing around, but now the open road beckons, China is one big place and I've thrown down the challenge to myself. All of a sudden it feels as if I've awakened from a very deep sleep.
Dongguan, China robjstaplesRejuvenated by a holiday and the experience of my parents' seeing China for the first time through fresh eyes, I'm aware both of how at ease I am in China, but also how much of a comfort zone I'm in. It's as if I've subconciously found ways to switch off the curiosity or ask fewer questions about my surroundings. That's also a very Chinese thing to do which could be a sign of going native I suppose ...
