... heating. More tales to come, I’m sure. This morning 6 of us hired a van and drove to the mainland border to shop at the Lo Wu Shopping Centre. Shenzhen is a free trade special economic zone so lots of shopping with many brand names. You do need to bargain and the salespeople can be quite assertive and in your face. Imagine, Tim passed this up to stay back for a supper at McDonalds ...

The landlady agreed to buy a new water heater which was supposed to arrive yesterday afternoon. It arrived at 9:30 this morning and a text told us someone would come at 3 to install it. He did arrive, but without any tools (we have a small kit) but the installation didn't go smoothly. He kept ...

      Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to our fellow Canadians! I was busy planning this week what and how I would prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner. Like many things we try to do here, it doesn't turn out exactly as planned. Turkey, I knew would be out of the question, but chicken was possible. I found a recipe for oven dressing and at one of the international food stores, I found a package of gravy mix so that was good. Vegetables are in abundance, except for turnip L, but I found a type of ...
