Historical Traveler Reviews of Hyatt Regency Brussels Barsey

Good location for neighborhood feel

from cbgb2
The location of the Warwick is great for a quieter neighborhood feel. We ate at restaurants with the locals and got a better feel of the people. The tram to the center of town was no longer than a 15-20 minute wait right across the street. The ATM was across the street also and came in handy on several occasions. The room was large and the bed comfortable although the bathroom floor was worn and cracked. For the price, I can't complain. I would say this was a 4 star hotel.

Great hotel, Good Location

from JC&BEB
The hotel is a short (10 Euro) taxi ride from Brussels Midi and well located on the Avenue Louise, if a short walk from from the shops. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, if too few at breakfast.

The breakfast buffet is superb, with a great selection of fruits, cold meats and fruit juices.

There is no gym on site, but they have an arrangement with one around the corner (which opens at ten and midday on Saturdays).

Overall, a great hotel, at which I would definitely stay again.

Dusty place...

I stayed in this hotel during easter, hotel is far from the center, the restaurant is nice, but seems expensive for Brussels, we decided to eat on the Sablon Square in a place called 'Lola', great food, excellent staff. The hotel staff is having trouble speaking English, and has been choosen for their 'Looks' I guess, cause not really 5* attitude, the hotels' interieur looks like my grandma's livingroom, candles included! Next time I prefer to stay more central and in a more 'updated' hotel.

Not that a 5, 4 or 3 star

from Dedra28
I booked the hotel based on the good reviews and the good weekend rate I found on the internet.

When we arrived at the hotel they couldn't find our reservations and I had to get online and print them out- not a good start. We were given a deluxe room for our troubles, which was a nice gesture. The room was large but the decor was something out of Moulin Rouge- very tacky.

The tiles in the bathroom had mold and hairs from the previous guests. The toilet was broken and after several calls and six hours later someone came to fix it. The walls were paper thin and I was kept awake by the loud snoring from the guy next door.

The location of the Hotels is also pretty bad. Although it's on Ave Louise it's at the end of the street-away from all the shops. If this is a first visit to Brussels, I would suggest an hotel a bit more central.

This hotel is not a five star by any stretch of the imagination!!!!

Oh my God - Is it really a hotel ?

I stay in this wonderful hotel designed by the famous Jacques Garcia.

First of all I was welcomed by the General Manager; Mr. Bussan: this person must be smiling all the time and what a personalized welcome.

In the evening, I went to their Restaurant; Barsey: what a delicious meal and what a perfect service! When I heard that the Chef was Mr. Bruneau (previously at the Restaurant ; la Maison du Cygne, I understood ...).

I recommend this hotel to everybody who is looking for something different and not standardized hotel with a perfect level of service.

Wonderful 5-star hotel !

I've stayed at the Warwick Barsey in March 2006 and I found the hotel fantastic!

The rooms are very comfortable and the marble bathroom marvellous. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. This hotel is located on the prestigious Avenue Louise and it is easy to get there with the tram in front of the hotel.

It was a perfect stay in Brussels.

I recommend to everybody to try this hotel once in their life !!!

Great hotel

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Warwick Barsey hotel in Brussels and enjoyed our stay. My husband was on business so I was on my own most of the time.

The staff were friendly and helpful, however, their English was limited. I found it helpful to ask several different front desk personnel the same question and then piece together the various replies. I was surprised the hotel didn't have a rack of literature and maps but the front desk did offer a little photocopied black and white map that they then wrote on while providing directions. I really recommend they offer sightseeing information, brochures, etc. to their guests.

It was terribly convenient to have the tram just outside the hotel so I was able to safely travel alone up and down Avenue Louise to shop and sightsee. Fare was cheap - 1.50 Euro, good for an hour. ATM was across the street too. Great neighborhood overall.

The room was clean, gorgeous and spacious. Nothing was shabby. The marble bathroom was beautiful with a separate toilet space, however, there was only one sink. The tub's hand "shower" wall holder was broke and the handyman couldn't understand our English or apparently figure out Americans like to stand under running water rather than spray ourselves with a hand-held shower head. Closet space was limited to an armoire but it included a handy electric pants press. Our king size bed consisted of two twins pushed together but the beds were very comfortable and the linens wonderful.

Overall, we'd stay at the hotel again.

Hotel seriously needs to invest in ventillation

from A TripAdvisor Member
Very reasonable weekend rates, but hotel smells of smoke as soon as you walk in the door, and the air in the room had a s stale smell (despite being a non-smoking room) as though it hadn't been aired in months, if ever. I found the staff behind the front desk to be rather dim and ill informed - unable to answer basic questions about where things are and how to get to them easily, and - in one case - giving me entirely the wrong information. I also asked for an alarm call only to be wakened 45 minutes after the time I'd asked for - which was infuriating. Delightful farmers market by Ixelles lakes on weekend mornings, not that the hotel staff seemed to know anything about it, which was staggering.

The warwick barsey...

from J-Andersson
Staying several times a year in Brussels, I finally found the perfect hotel, more 'feel home' is hard to find, a hotel with 'Attitude', great decorations, well maintened, staff very polite and friendly. Located on the very stylish avenue louise, in the residential area only 5 minutes per taxi or tram from downtown brussels and the Fashion District. It's now rebrandred to Warwick Hotels, a rather small chain. This is for me the only real boutique hotel in Brussels and the only 5*hotel in town with a fancy trendy restaurant. Great for people with style and good attitude!
