Back to the Big Smoke

Flew back to Adelaide today for the big 50th weekend!!! It all went well and Madam and I stayed at the Hyatt for a couple of nights. Had a few friends and family together at Parisis for a lovely evening.

The Final Destination - Adelaide

Michelle had to start work bright and early at 8:00am. Our hotel's breakfast buffet was included in the room price, so every morning Mitch would get up early to join Michelle for breakfast before work. The full buffet was delicious, even serving free espresso drinks. This work week was the most intense for Michelle, as she was conducting trainings every day. Her Australian coworkers were very nice and welcoming! They took her out to lunch on the first day by the beach area, Glenelg. It was a ...

Another day in Adelaide

The daytime was pretty much the same with Michelle working and Mitch following his routine. Michelle's trainings were very productive yet time consuming, and she was realizing that her time in the office was going to fly by! The Australian work environment is very similar to the U.S., whereas the Thai and Malaysian offices had more differences. Michelle's coworker, Irma, invited us over to her house in the evening. She lives nearby, as everything in Adelaide seems to be within 15 minutes. A t...

An Evening in Glenelg

This evening we decided to check out the beach area in Adelaide - Glenelg. There was a tram right outside of our hotel, which was very convenient for the half hour ride down there. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain, but that made our evening more of an adventure! Glenelg was such an adorable beach town. We walked around, trying to choose a restaurant from the many options. As we walked, we checked out some tourist shops, which was fun. Finally, we found a spot just right for the two of us......

Fun Night Out!

Now that the work week was over, it was time to have some fun! Michelle's coworker, Irma, and her husband, Patrick, planned a great evening out for us. We started with dinner at a scrumptious Italian restaurant. It was a full dinner with appetizers, main courses and wine. The wine was a local South Australian wine, from one of the Adelaide vineyards...so good! We shared great stories and laughs over dinner. What better way to end a dinner than by stopping at the nearby "Gelatissimo" for gelat...

Koalas, Kangaroos and Wallabies - Oh Boy!

Today was the best day in Australia...what a way to end our trip!! Irma and Patrick picked us up bright and early for a trip to the Clelend National Park. This park has free roaming native Australian animals - koalas, kangaroos, emus, Tasmanian devils, dingos, wallabies, and much more! We bought animal food at the entrance of the park, then began the fun day adventure. We were just in time for the 10:00am koala viewing. The koalas were sooo cute and soft. They were like huge stuffed animals!...

Finally Adelaide!

... in the garden of the recreation yard still wore a ball and chain up until the 1970's! Part of the reason the gaol was shut down was due to how outdated it was. It was originally built to focus on punishment and eventually the more modern focus on rehabilitation was no longer possible there. One of the buildings is often used for private functions....I don ...

Laid back Adelaide - not for Hill Billys!

... had a huge display of digeridoos, and me braving it, I tried to make music, although it sounded more like a **** or a burp instead of an actual tone. I'll stick to fashion. We then went on to the Botanical Gardens and finally the Migration Museum, which was really interesting. Stories were told of why and where from the immigrants came with letters, documents and pictures from way back. Even a mention of the Scandies that made their way to Oz back in 1850's. Good ...

... our way to get some lunch we saw a few people setting up some gear in car parks, striking up a few times before the organised stuff started in the evening. We listened to one group of old boys, they w**e great, sounded v**y 50s, though how I would know is anyone's guess... We spent the aft**noon doing a few short walks to Mackenzie Falls, the Balconies and to the Pinnacle, probably the most famous sites in the Grampians National Park. It is a small ...

And when I say all the way through, I mean for the full 90 minutes - non-stop! It was like some sort of mass party going off - really good. I actually had a seat on the front row, but most people stood up near the middle, so I stayed there for most of the game. It's weird because ...
