      ... gut! Derek had two bratwurst, Munich and Rattlesnake/Rabbit with spaetzle, Larry had a bratwurst with potato salad and I had a turkey reuben with coleslaw and spaetzle. We got home about 4:00. It was great to be home but the unpacking, pile of mail and newspapers, 21 phone messages and 284 emails kept us busy for a while. It is great to be home!

      ... on the shuttle bus. Columbus has a big indoor/outdoor shopping complex with a wide variety of stores so we wandered around, bought a few things and had lunch before we drove to Athens. One of the most interesting shops was Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, a chain of stores originating in Columbus that has become famous by offering flavours such as sweetcorn and black raspberry, and goats cheese with sour ...

      ... I love, called "Sweetie-Licious Pies", written by a gal who has a 50's-style pie/lunch diner not far from Grand Rapids; plus a few other small odds and ends.

      Then it was on to the local Walmart parking lot, where we've spent many a night en route to our various destinations. The next morning, it was on to Virginia, which begins with my next post.

      ... Back home that rhythm is gone.

      The plan is to make this the last point for the Go East Trip. Some lessons learned, some highlights and we'll see what else makes it in.


      Lessons Learned

      • The GSA gas tank can deform due to vacuum pressure. I got a pretty big dimple on the right side during the trip that subsequently went away when I got home.
        • An extra gallon of gas would have been nice to have ...

      ... to the Polar bears which we just managed to scrape in before Zach got too tired. Both the brown and the Polar bears were obviously very hot and sitting in the water trying to keep cool. They had a great under water viewing area but as you can imagine they weren’t moving much.
