Wind and waves on lovely Ludao (Green Island)
... I was rifling through my pockets for change and pulled out the guesthouse room key. ****!! I immediately called and spoke to the owner, apologised profusely and promised to mail it back to her by 7-11 express post as soon as we arrived in Fugang. What a bonehead I can be.
The ferry ride was interesting. For a nation of people surrounded by water, the Taiwanese are notoriously poor swimmers and seafarers. Now, I’ll freely admit that the water was a ...
Traipsing around Taitung
... the Suao-Hualien Highway. Of course I’d had no way of knowing in advance but, barring a couple of very scenic lookouts, it had been a bit of a letdown. We were ...

It reminded me most of Hawaii. I highly recommend it for anyone who visits Taiwan, it's my favorite for sure.

Jan 3, 6pm
We met our B&B owner Mr. Huang at the train station at Taitung.
He first took us to eat some noodles with duck giblets, bamboo shoots, and frosted pickled cucumbers.
Then he drove us to the oceanside where we got to feed the fishes by holding a rolled up slice of bread in our fist under water. Hundreds of fishes will gather and "peck" at the bread AND your hand! Very ticklish and they made little fishy kissing noises. I threw ...
