Vaxholm, Stockholm, Sweden maudrenee... and we are all on the same page now. We head into the old town to wander around, and to find the Nobel Museum. There had been a Nobel Museum in Oslo as well, that Bob and I had passed on at the end of our long day of sight seeing in the rain, but apparently, this is THE Nobel Museum. So we find it tucked into a main square, and Michael and I enter while Bob and Carol sit at a café for coffee. The Nobel Museum is awesome. Truly Awesome. The ...
Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden ohiolair... All the information I had indicated they sold them at hotels, hostels, news stands, and at subway stations, but none of them had them. I had to backtrack to the new town's tourist office to finally get my hands on one. I was annoyed and in a bad mood today. I hopped onto a boat bound for the island of Djurgarden (Stockholm is essentially a number of islands), where I would be hitting up the museums. The boat was packed with Spanish tourists. I was a ...
Stockholm, Sweden pwong...
Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden sanny... had impressed me was the service, friendly and always with a smile, and dinner in Sodermalm was no exception. Wanting to make the most of the daylight, I told the others I wanted to go for a short walk along Soder Malarstrand, and they were willing enough. About half way along the road by the harbour we spied a small park which looked to be a great view point and tried to make our way up. It wasn't too hard to find, and after waiting for a film crew to do some shooting we ...
Stockholm, Sweden willWe arrived in Stockholm a few days ago and it is my favorite city so far. While Helsinki seemed to have a rigid coldness to it, Stockholm seems cozy and inviting. I enjoy how the river going through the city opens up areas so that it doesn´t feel clastrophobic and allows you to see buildings in the distance. We spent the first day doing a scavenger hunt and quickly ...
Stockholm, Sweden jseitz... the dock near the Grand Hotel in their boat for the trip out to Eric and Jann's place in the archipelago. Judy is an American married to Olle, a Swede. We met one night at an American Women's club evening event after which they kindly offered me a ride to the train station. So here they were, on our second meeting, transporting me once again. The trip from Saltsjöbanan to the island took around an hour ...
Stockholm, Sweden kathympine... the wrong direction. We quickly backtracked and made it back to the central station with 15 minutes until the reservation booth would be closing. The train station is a 10 minute walk so we sprinted most of the way there and through parts of the station. I printed out a line ticket and waited for my number to be called. This was at 4 minutes to closing. After 5 minutes past closing, we started walking away when my number ...
Stockholm, Sweden amyandjosh... world's largest jigsaw puzzle as they have worked to reassemble the 14,000 pieces recovered from the ocean floor. Because the ship sank in the Baltic which has very little salt, the ship is remarkably in great shape. I spend the rest of the day trying to catch up on my travel blogs with the free Internet we have at the hotel and bid my new friends good-by when we share a farewell dinner. I hope to see some of the ...
Stockholm, Sweden shewolf... view. Our first impression of Stockholm wasn't great. In fact, the first words I uttered were "What a ****-hole". This was because we had taken the wrong turn, gone into the underground, and were now stepping over puddles and massive piles of discarded Metro newspapers. Then we went out of the side entrance and found ourselves under an overpass. So it wasn't off to a great start but how could we blame it? The hostel was nice if a little odd. They had a no shoe ...
