Hutton Lodge is a lovely clean simple accommodation. Great location, walking distance from main bus station and easy to catch local buses. Only a 15MR taxi to jetty. It really is only somewhere to sleep though. The free breakfast is not really a breakfast, unless you like a piece of white toast with strawberry jam every morning. No cereal nor fruit! Also had to ask for toilet paper and for clean towels after using same ones for 4 days! No house keepers here ;) We did feel safe and comfortable staying here with our family and the room was plenty big enough for all 4 of us.

    The hero of my trip

When i arrived in Georgetown I'd left my purse in a taxi. Hence it was very much lost. A member of staff not only drove me 20 mins across the city, he also explained my tail of woe to the drivers, waited for 1.5 hours until the purse was found, and drove us back. He then looked offended when i tried to give him 100 MYR. But i wouldn't back down. He had pretty much saved my whole year away that i was only 11 days into. I cannot praise the staff enough. Amazing. Rooms were impeccably clean. Service second to none.

We arrived early morning by bus so that we expected to wait for a while outside the lodge. However, the night manager immediately noticed us and let us inside and even offer us to have breakfast. That was a very thoughtful surprise.. The room was clean and spacious. The shared showers are very powerful and hot. We highly recommend this place!

Our day started with a short taxi to the bus station in Melaka then onto a 2hr bus to KL airport. We managed to get an earlier flight rather than waiting at airport for 3hrs. We had a quick bite to eat, which I must say was the worst meal since leaving Aus and by far the most expensive!! (KFC, YUCK) After our 1hr flight ($140NZD for all of us) we …

Coming to Penang was coming back home in a way. Here the streets are walkable and not obstructed by highways at every corner. And to most parts of town we could simply walk, which we took the opportunity to do. The streets themselves were lined with houses in a colonial style, with covered walkways made up of the overhanging balconies. Around the …

It was so hot and humid in the temple and there were many people inside, lighting insense and praying. Mitch lit his insense, following what the others did. It was a neat experience. After about an hour of walking around, included with breathing the thick air filled with smog ...
