... we were halted by dense traffic, looked surprisingly well-nourished – we were informed that, for them, begging is a business often, alas, organised by unscrupulous adults.

In Uttarakhand in the north, and Rajasthan further south, we saw no real poverty at all. A simpler life-style, such as that of Mr Badal Singh and his family in Khuri, with no cars dishwashers, televisions etc., might appear impoverished to the western consumer-driven eye, but ...

What do they have on a farm called "Goose Slade Farm"? Geese, that screeched ALL night!

We drove to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton. Devoted to the history of British naval aviation. Great display of aircraft, shipping, a Concorde, and simulated trip in a helicopter then up into the bridge of the the aircraft Carrier "Ark Royal." All brilliantly set out in four enormous hangars, and even I enjoyed it all.

Then set off again and had our LAST ferry ride - ...

I cannot believe that in just a few days I will be heading off for my challenge with Homeless International, in Nepal to build better homes. As I stuff all my necessary belongings into my tiny rucksack, it seems crazy to be packing sunscreen whilst a squalling gale rages outside. I have packed my industrial work gloves and protective goggles as I think we are putting some water sanitisation in. Thanks again to all those that gave so generously to Homeless International. I ...
