Portomarin to Eirexe 17 km walk Started in the fog and quite cool. We had bought food for our breakfast- toast, ham, tomato and cheese. It was a long up climb again this am. These towns are not well serviced and few cafés. Not an easy hike but everything is so beautiful, it is worth every step We are staying in a municpal albergue- cost 5€. It ...

As the title implies, today's route left behind the coast and turned inland as I drew within 200 km of Santiago de Compostela.

The first 2/3 of the day were not great. All highway expect for a few kms where I found parallel side streets. It also did not have yesterday's mountainous beauty. Instead, a steady headwind slowed me. Perhaps some of the change was geopolitical? because I left Astoria and ...

The book promised flatter ground today and after yesterday it was a treat. There is always a few hills but I enjoyed the 20 something we did today. The weather was perfect, cool start and sunny, lots of country lanes and bush trails. One thing we dislike are the paved roads, ******* the feet but normally not much traffic. All the other walkers agreed it was a nice walk today. The Km are ticking by and ...

After spending night at a pension we are back on the trail. I was the first one out walking but as always everyone passed me up! Terry had a slow start for whatever reason. I had to walk with sandals because I had no dry clean socks! These trails are not as bad as the trails at the beginning or is it that I have gotten use to them! The landscape is not too pretty like ...

... seen the Roman influence! Some of the trails have high stone walls and bridges are still standing. But it is hot and it dry compared to cool sea breeze of the north. I miss the coastline already! As I write we are less that 100 kilometers from Santiago! Yesterday was the first auto via sign we saw with Santiago! Also we took a I tyre at the 100 kilometer marker! It has been an amazing experience!!! So far, we are noticing ...
