Ctra de la Ruta de la Plata, Carretera Asturias, Km 1.6 León, Castile-León, Spain and Canary Islands
I did´n get to see munch of Madrid exept the metro system. Went to the airport to straighten things with Air Comet/AeroMexico and then back to the train station. Quite tiring.
But Trini was so nice, a perfect host !
Leon is a nice middle-sized city with a beautifull cathedral and narrow streets typical from spain, and of course a good nightlife. I went out this night with Ruth (Trini´s daughter) and her friends, and had a great time !
I like spain, I´ll be back next year.
León, Castilla y Leon, Spain doctorhugo... about the place, but here they mingle with business men and housewives going on about their duties. Pilgrims, tonight we will dine in León. (Harrugh!) We meet Nicolette in a bar just around the corner of our pension. She's trying to work for her final exam (I wonder why you would want try to do that on the Camino), but soon gives up and joins us for a chat. Being really hungry, Petra suddenly has a strong craving for ...
León, Spain prinzni... starts talking about false teachers. He says that there were false prophets in the days of old and there are false teachers now as well. They will never go away so be on your guard. Many will follow their lies but that does not mean that it is right. These people will be punished. God did not spare the world when he sent the flood, only Noah and his family because they were the only righteous ones. Similarly, God did not spare Sodom and Gomorrah when he sent fire from heaven, only ...
Leon, Spain and Canary Islands southamerica4hi... to go to Barcelona because that is where Gaudi did most of his work and there are some really neat looking buildings and stuff there. I will definitely take tons of pictures because Gaudi has a very different style of architecture that is really fun. La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell are two of his most famous "pieces" in Barcelona. I also went to three more parades today. I only wanted to go to one or two but in the middle of the ...
León, Spain southamerica4hi... one (although she has offered to let me sit in on a few of her classes since it really wouldn't help me to watch my teacher teach French). I will have to call Lourdes sometime, maybe tomorrow, and ask her about what exactly I need to do and if I am going to be observed and stuff. Today I followed my teacher (Roberto) around and sat in on his classes (which were mostly French) so tomorrow I think I am going to stay in the sixth grade classroom and observe how it ...
León, Spain southamerica4hiAgain we were almost the last pilgrims to leave. Martin wore flip-flops and we slowly traversed the six kilometres to Mansilla de los Mullas. There Martin was able to buy some retro-looking, yet quite effective, creme for his feet. Our book proclaimed this town to be lovely and medieval...and it kind of was. We passed by city walls, down a narrow street, and found an open-air vegetable market being ...
Mansilla de los Mullas, Spain cutiebanana... There were random places that smelled like **** and had nothing, but overall the location of every place was awesome. After the first week and a half of hiking we started to get into the flatter less picturesque places. There was more road-side walking and flat gravel roads (that hurt to walk on) that streched for miles through wheat and corn fields. Not a lot of shade so when the sun came out it was no joke! I guess the french portion of the Camino is ...
Hontanas to Leon, Spain hildreth75... I forgot to breath!! I suppose... you get what you pay for aye! Caught a bus to León, where tomorrow we will start our pilgrimage. We are staying in our first Albergue (cheap hostel like accommodation especially for pilgrims), but can't help to feel a little guilty that we are not yet 'real' pilgrims! Ant and I have to sleep in separate ...
