We had a walk up to the castle after lunch and then tried to find a shop that was: 1. open and 2. that sold birthday cards (it is Oliver's birthday tomorrow). We failed on both quests.
Instead we bought a postcard depicting the Camino de Santiago and managed to got to the post office before it shut for the day. I can now ask for stamps in Spanish!!

... talked literature until at Navarette our paths separated.My feet were healing and hardening up well but after three or four hour's walking they started to get sore and bruised so we stopped for a while.

... this hostel had a reputation as the worst on the Camino, so I could not rest the night. I met a charming Norwegian chap called Olaf, he was my age but looked fitter.
