... as it usually would be. We were also very lucky with the weather today as it stayed overcast but did not rain as forecast. There were a number of things that surprised me; everything is so green, it was quite cold driving around an open top vehicle, we saw wild animals as soon as we drove in the gate, even though there were a lot of people in the park it did not ruin the experience and we managed to see four of the big five. ... so their dung is a nutrient supply for other animals during the winter when food is more scarce. We wandered through dry, sandy riverbeds that fill to almost two meters deep during rainy season. Near the end of the walk we came across pure white poop. The owner of this odd colored feces was a Hyena. Hours after it is deposited it turns from brown to white due to the high calcium content in it. The calcium comes from all the bones ...
... from the US (Gia and ?). So many names of people and animals and sights to remember. Can't keep up!! Saw a few birds including White backed Vultures and a nightjar. Buffalo and then a Leopard!!! It stayed by the road for ages. Then it ate and rolled in Buffalo dung. Pity it was just a bit too dark for photos (have enough to prove I saw it!). Then a Hippo crossed the road, they can wander up to 10km at night to graze. Saw 2 bull ...
... on. One may say, these crisp cascades weren't so crisp with a nude beardy in the way. Once again, cheeky clouds were around, but we still managed to get some awesome shots. Shaun and Karen, two, cheeky clouds, one.
At the end of the day, we managed to beat the clouds through fierce competition. We looked back at our photos and admired the beauty of the crisp falls and classic canyon that South Africa had served up for us, on route to the famous Kruger National ...
