    Another 6am start and long driving day as we left Pretoria travelling east towards Kruger NP. We were travelling to the town of Hazyview on the edge of Kruger via a circular scenic route through Blyde River Canyon NP. The spectacular scenery of this deep river gorge was amazing.     ... just fallen from the ceiling. We had a bit of a giggle but tried to take it seriously for the sake of the lovely security guard who was spending his day guarding this museum. Then walked into town looking for a place to eat – when we walked back it was getting dark, I wasn’t sure whether the bus loads of workers were being dropped off or picked up to be taken out of time but outside the pub was a very lively crowd, infact the two pubs were packed and noisy. ...

    ... that looks out over the golf course and forest area. There is a fence around the property with a 24 hour guard gate. We sat out by the pool for awhile after unpacking. The pool was too cool to swim. Tonight we had dinner at the lodge. Tried a new fish, Kingklip. It was excellent. A good beginning to our first day in South Africa.
