... 3 euros each, Freida and Paola (and their driver) brought our knees painlessly down the rest of the mountain! By now, there were a lot of people on the road, so we felt rather royal. After lunch, we went through a similar ticket/turnstile process and entered the castle where Ludwig spent his childhood summers, Hohenschwangau. Much warmer, it seemed a place one could live, although on a rather grandiose scale. The queen lived on the 2nd floor, the king on ...

... difficult but important part of the tour. Just north of Munich, we visited the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. A specially trained guide, Brendan (and yes, he is Irish), gave us a brief but packed tour of the grounds. ... castle and spans a deep gorge through which a rushing river and small waterfalls flow. It was very beautiful and provided great views of the castle. We had a picnic lunch, hiked down the hill and started our drive to Linkenheim. We made it to the Herrmann home in time to go out for dinner with the whole family (except Matthias). We stayed up late having apple kuchen, playing Andreas' card game and ...

From Fussen north to Wurtzburg is what all call the German Romantic Road. It is thus because of the wealth, power, culture, architecture and art generated during medieval times and beyond. The road moves through Bavaria north into Baden Wurttemberg. We met several couples in our camps at night who came to Germany to visit only this.

The first huge thing to see is King Ludwigs Castle which is supposed to be the model ...
