... far from the train station to the hostel which was really nice and the hostel was a good one with a bar and they even fed us dinner (we had potatoe grostl one night and pizza the next). Even though Steve had a drunk guy step on him while he was sleeping we enjoyed our time there. We walked through the streets and saw the square Maria ran across and the gardens where she sang and danced with the children in The Sound ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria steveandwhitney... the tour took us all over parts of Salzburg and a couple towns outside of town. we got some great pictures! At the last town we had some very tasty Apple Stroodle! After the tour was done we walked around Salzburg seeing markets and places dedicated to and places of Mozart.
The next day we headed to Prague... and I beleive you know what happened there, so on to Germany!!

... they run or skip down so we all took our skipping pictures. The tour even took us outside Salzburg to a small town about an hour away or so, where we saw a few other scenes that were in the movie. Then we had an hour break, so we spent some of that time looking around, and then we decided to taste their famous Apple Struddle! Mmmm it was good! The tour lasted about 4 hours I think, which the last stop was at the square where they ...
Salzburg, Austria kkb-myadventure... the way, we stopped at Mozart’s house, which was admittedly a little anticlimactic. Anyway, the gardens are the site of several shots from The Sound of Music, which gave me a little more inspiration than usual while sketching. After getting a few drawings in, we headed over to the train station for my first falafel sandwich (they are everywhere in Europe, so this is surprising) and the beginning of our trip to Vienna!
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria cmvanacker... buses at the top of the mountain when we finally got there.
Mom was already freaked out from the hairpin turns alongside steep drop off cliffs, so she decided to skip the mines. Instead she got to relax in the beautiful sunshine beside the glistening water of the large lake. We, on the other hand, managed to get on the funicular to the mines just in time to catch the last tour.

... the hotels we've stayed at.. It's disgusting and really bad if you have asthma, even I struggle with my hay fever with all the cigarette ash.. Mind you, it's not just cigarettes they smoke too, you see some people with their cigars and pipes around.. Transport - Generally the public transport system is pretty good here. Adelaide can sure learn a lot about the trains and buses here, that's for sure. Learning a new ...

In the morning we head out for Salzburg, Austria. However we were supposed to buy an autobahn pass to drive on the roads, so we stopped at a gas station to buy one. Unfortunately, no one there spoke English or German and so all we could do was make hand signals. Sounds funny, but it was slightly frustrating! It makes me wonder how they are going to do with the whole European Union thing! But, it also makes me realize how lucky we have it ...
... station called Kasern. 1.80 euro later and we are dropped off the the bottom of the hill with a note book I wrote down off the internet on how to get to our hostel (that seems to be the routine we've got ourselves into). The hostel directions never used north, south, east, or west... it's more like - up the way, down the road... so, it's a bit of the guessing game. But, when we got off the train in Kasern, "up the way" meant exactly that. Behind us lie huge ...

We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. It was rather chilling to see that part of history. The bunker is now a restaurant. Our rest stop overlooked a valley filled with wonderful homes. What a view! Back on the bus and on to Salzburg. Time 10:35.
... weather matched the day…glorious! In the evening, we went to a Farmer’s Buffet for dinner. It consisted of all the types of food that the local folks have. It was ok, but not my cup of tea. After dinner, though, we were entertained by a wonderful trio of singers doing songs from the Sound of Music. Great fun was had by all. It was then time to turn in and get ready for more adventures.
