    ... soup. The next course was chicken and other meat, vegetables, corn. For dessert there was apple cake. Where we sat there was a big painting, and it was really dark and they had candles. It was really fun. We ate with no forks or spoons we only had a knife and a napkin. And we could wipe our fingers off on the other person. Halloween was fun.     ... for a walking tour of a very pretty Innsbruck (our hotel is in the center of town). While we obviously enjoyed the sights of Italy, it was great to be in the mountains again and see Bavarian (in this case Tyrolean) architecture.

    We were supposed to take the cable cars and cog wheel train to Alpspix and Zugspitz for Adrian's birthday but it snowed overnight and both mountains were covered in cloud. We had to come up with a plan B and found the very pretty town of Mittenwald was close by. The buildings in this part of Bavaria are painted with murals which is quite different to other areas.     Those on the bus had to pay 23 Eu for the two tickets today to Linderhof and Neuchswanstein. I had bought my pass for 24 Eu so it had already paid for itself today plus all the other castles I could visit.
