        There was only a small sign we tried to use for shade on this hot and sticky summer morning, so I walked over to the patch of shadow. As I was doing so, a crazy bus driver nearly killed me. He tore into the parking lot blaring his horn. I had to jump out of the way.

        I didn't sleep well on my bamboo mat bed, so I woke up early and snacked on leftover lotus root.

        Judy was up soon after, and she helped me find a train to Shangrao on Moday, while my stinky clothes were in her washing machine. I hung them up to dry and we headed out to the train station to buy the tickets.

        I woke up early in the morning and watched some random English TV until it was time for breakfast. There was some delicious pumpkin soup with homemade dumplings and salty hard boiled eggs. I took a minibus up to the entrance of Yazikou, the only part of the park that is relegated to foreigners.

        At first, I got dropped off too far in, and I didn't have a ticket, so I had to walk back 1 km to buy one. Already irritated, I wasn't expecting the insane entrance ...

        Sunday 28th June

        We began the day with a wonderful buffet breakfast and met our Cruise Director, Darby, from the United States. He welcomed us and gave us a run down of the on board facilities and today's events.
