... the day was that all the kids passports were finalized. Vivian dropped Zayne's off to us around 4:30. Our official business here in Zhengzhou is now complete. Zayne played out in the hallway with some of the other kids for about 45 min., then after another in-room dinner (pizzas this time, with Zayne having left over noodles), Zackery and I made our last pool trip for this hotel. Zayne did start saying "Hello" today, which was cool. I think he is going to pick up ...

I also see that the Shanghai stock market has recently lost like 1/3 of its value. Probably will make for some depressed folks when we get to that stop of our trip. ... on the noodle place nearby. The food was fairly decent, but more traditional Chinese. For example, the "kids" meal (which we didn't order, but our friends did) consisted of two chicken wings, just like you would get at Buffalo Wild Wings, spinach and a breaded prawn. We opted for dumplings and pork with rice. The dumplings were a hit (except for a few bites with noticeable veggies), but the rice dish ended up all over the ...

... 10:00. There were three or four other families already in there, and about 3 or 4 kids had already arrived. The children's reactions were quite varied, ranging from pleasant and napping to looks of dazed confusion, to heart wrenching fits of crying. This is all happening in the same room, which is approx. 15 x 30. We didn't know what to expect. About 15 min. passed, and then we saw the contact from our orphanage ...
