Grand Canal Tour in China 7.2 – Gaoyou Tour- Day 09-10 (05, 06 Sep, 2011)
On the afternoon of 05Sep, After visited ancient Shaobo Town, we drive to Gaoyou along the road on the levee of the Grand Canal and Shaobo Lake and Gaoyou Lake.
Gaoyou city covers an area of 1963 s.km, with the polulation of 830,000, but in downtown, …
... in flat like accommodation. It was mostly families and then there was an old person building, but it was not a care home!
We took the lift (thank god!) to the 11th floor and then we were greeted by a crowd of people who were all related to shuya in some way and had come to have dinner with us! Now i quickly learnt that people in china are either insisting that i eat something or i sit down and preferably both! You soon learn not to decline! But its awkward when an old lady gets ...

which are held in their throat, but the birds can swallow smaller fish. When a
cormorant has caught a fish in its throat, the fisherman brings the bird back
to the boat and has the bird spit the fish up. Though cormorant fishing once
was a successful industry, its primary use today is to serve the tourism
industry. We wondered what the SPCA would think of this in NZ! As said, mainly
just for tourists.
... All went without incident and everyone cooked a pretty amazing meal that we all then enjoyed together. Even Matt's meal was edible and really rather nice.
Pretty tired we went for a couple of beers at the local rooftop hostel and then bed.
The next day was cycling through the local villages. I have not been on a bike for 20 years and was not best pleased! I got on and wobbled down the road much to Roses concern! She instantly offered me a helmet ...
We have at last managed to defeat the Great Firewall of China, to bring you unadulterated access to our adventures!
