    ... cormorants, which are still used for fishing. They have rings put around their necks, so when they catch the fish they can't swallow, and the fishermen can retrieve the fish. Hopefully a practice which is dying out!

    ... all of these dumplings! It was soo much food! Typical china! They really do live to eat!

    In the afternoon i went to see Alissa's house, now the downside was she lived on the 21st floor and the lift wasn't working! Her flat was the most homely home i've seen in china, it had a sofa and everything! After a tour and some milk we headed off to a place that was clearly designed for me!     ... the birds from swallowing larger fish,
    which are held in their throat, but the birds can swallow smaller fish. When a
    cormorant has caught a fish in its throat, the fisherman brings the bird back
    to the boat and has the bird spit the fish up. Though cormorant fishing once
    was a successful industry, its primary use today is to serve the tourism
    industry. We wondered what the SPCA would think of this in NZ! As said, mainly
    just for tourists.

    ... both cats and dogs strung up like the pigs and cows. You could get very upset by this (I did) but I guess you have to accept that this is a different culture and accept it.

    Laden with goods for our cooking class sans cat and dog we walked to the restaurant for our cooking lesson.

    The cooking lesson was amazing! We all went to the kitchen and donned our Chefs hat and aprons! We cooked 3 dishes, Beer Fish which was Catfish in beer, Go Bang Chicken and ...
