    ... the hike was long and winding and Jane and I were a little queasy. We put on our rain ponchos (which included pants that some of us opted out of) and started up the stairs... Wait what!?     ... one taking a break on the side of the path, we felt a bit silly for being out of breath ourselves when these guys, using only a bamboo pole, were carrying sometimes hundreds of pounds worth of stuff up and down the same steep staircases.

    ... to walk back downwards, which was nice for we could see many beautiful landscapes but was also tiring. At some point it started raining and it didn't stop. Walking only down, I felt like I was in a kind of trance. When we were finally down we took the bus back to the Huangshan station and walked from there to the hostel while the rain was pouring down on us..
