First stop for the day was near the only portion of the original ancient wall that surrounded Suzhou. A short walk to where we boarded boat for our cruise along the large canal and then through the smaller canals for which Suzhou was known as the "Venice of the east".

Nanshan Temple and Canal Trip

We went back to Casa Zoe's for breakfast after moving from the Kempinski Hotel back to the Gran Park Hotel for work tomorrow. We then went to visit the Nanshan Temple, and walked around a market area, a bit like Confucius Temple area in Nanjing with small shops and stalls.

We then took a lovely boat trip down the Grand Canal (which we have been on in Hangzhou also), stopping off at a hand-made brick museum. Another lovely day.

... area, we got a taxi out to the Lingshan Scenic Park area, with a large detour as the roads were blocked with military for some reason, and arrived at the park about midday. ... authentic looking Chinese boats it was really cool. The water in the canals even looked okay. The plan was walk to the end of this street and finish the day at a really famous park before heading back into shanghai… however because our train was for 6:20pm we had to rush to make everything fit in.
