Picked up by a guide and driver we headed off on a tour off Dandong starting with the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall of China starts near Dandong and across the river from North Korea.

We hiked along the river separating China with DRPK from a spot called 1 meter leap were one could just about jump into DRPK. There were armed Chinese and Korean soldiers watching. When we got to the first tower of the wall we followed the wall ...

... argue now. But because the US has the biggest economy they control others, so I asked then would China become the imperialist when their economy exceeds the US. I realized I had possibly said too much. I actually came to like our DRPK guides, they were professional but also fun to be with. When I was sick the guides genuinely were concerned for me and they did their best ...

You can go east from Beijing and it was east I went - to Dandong. Dandong is the main border city on the Chinese side of the border between China and North Korea.I took the night train with a hard sleeper bed as the trip is about 14 hours long. A sort of "express" train with limited stops. However, this time next year there will be a "fast" train which will cut the journey down to about 6 hours. It's all go in China.A mad scramble at the Beijing railway station. First ...

    Placeholder

A travel blog entry by jonnyanddonna on Nov 20, 2013

I'm struggling to articulate my thoughts on North Korea and rather than write a feeble minded review I thought I'd leave a placeholder here The only reason I bother is so that the blogs make chronological sense. I'll edit this into a proper blog at some time. In the meantime read our next blog about the great ...
