    The tide was out when I arrived, so a steep climb down barnacled stone steps took me along the shoreline of fishing boats where people live, fish and trade from their vessels. It is very much a marine atmosphere here that takes you back to a slow and different time.

    ... Geng. Geng was born here but made his fortune in rubber in Singapore. At the time, he felt the people of this area needed a central education facility.

    I will only be here this one night before a bit of travel tomorrow to live in the round houses of the Hakka ethnic minority. The round houses, as you will see, were mistaken by the USA, back in the Cold War days, as missile silos!

    ... lunch - individual hot pots and the Mother of All Spinny Tables! (which included the option of cooking some prawns that were still kicking! You can imagine how delighted the kids were(!)) We then had some time at the school, teachers met with Qingli and the head teacher Mr Xue while the pupils enjoyed a game of football - in the rain which they won 9-5 well done guys and gals!
