We arrive in Chengdu with a free afternoon which on this trip do not happen very often.

The hotel is in the downtown shopping area so armed with a map off we go to see the sights. The map gives a very false impression. It is miles to the tourist sights so we causiously explore the retail shops.

They are all here Prada, Chanel, Zara all the familiar names of Europe and the place is packed - it is not ...

... was worth the effort. Spent a few more hours at work, then Nancy and I broke for dinner, had a nice meal with a salad, roasted duck and fish - all delicious. The menu was entirely in Chinese (but with pictures) and we almost ended up ordering tongue, but thankfully when we asked what the meat was in the picture, the waitress stuck out her tongue and pointed, so that prompted us to make another choice.
