A fucking great hat

Ah oui! En parlant de boutons sur les ...

But only after making sure my computer will be safely tucked away in someones house.

Dag 30 Terracottaleger

Day 13: Terracota Warriors!

... how low the price can go, up to less than a quarter of their asking price. I made some good buys and really had a sense of accomplishment after I leave. Tomorrow I will be taking a flight to Shanghai and will arrive there in the afternoon. I'm really looking forward to taking the Maglev train from the airport to the city. Apparently the train can hit a top speed of 430km/hr! Alright, I will write an entry tomorrow night from Shanghai. Good night!

Chill-out time in Xi'an

... with a couple we met in Beijing, and they've done a lot of travelling so we got lots of tips and advise from them. The hostel has little courtyards where you can sit and read and drink copious amounts of tea. Theres a cafe on the first floor and the best bit about it is that there's a bar in the basement where you can get a free beer everynight you stay there! The bar has some sort of entertainment on ...

Xi'an

... hotpot. This was definitely one of our favourite dining experiences. We had a mixture of a couple of meats and interesting array of noodles and seaweed. Our newly adopted Muslim grandma was there again to welcome us with open arms and fed us she did! You could tell that she was really happy that we had returned for more. DAY THREE On our last day in Xi'an, we went to the most popular tourist attraction there - the ...

Terracotta Warriors

... 6000 restored ones showing. They estimate about 15,000 warriors exist. Each is unique and as big as a man. Some farmers found the sites on accident when they tried to dig a well. Some of the warriors had Chromium plated weapons, a technique that was not discovered until the 1950s in the US. The Qing dynasty figured it out 2200 years ago. What interested me was that they have not excavated the actual tomb of the emperor. Two scientists died awhile back ...

Happy Halloween in the Airport!

Hi everyone! wow I just added a list of all the places we have been in the past few weeks....as you can see we have been super busy taking buses, trains, and planes:) It has been so much fun visiting a University in China in Wuhan, taking a boat trip down the Li River, riding bikes out into the rural area of China one afternoon, and sketching at the Lin Canal. I will tell everyone the details when I get back but internet is expensive in China so I will have to be breif ...

Trip back to Xi'an

... At stages the traffic was four abreast with two oncoming to get past these holes. The roads were intermittently tarred and dirt with little in the way of road markings or any signs. The next day we met another SA family who had also made the journey who had asked their driver to stop so they could take photo's but were told 'not possible, too dangerous'.
