We were invited out with some of the staff on Tuesday night to Laowi Town to a quiz night which was good fun. We then met Silvie, the CP at Munchner Biergarten, the German bar on Wednesday and the Italian restaurant Thursday evenings.

Ningbo is a lovely city, built on 5 rivers, so was a trading post and from the hotel room you can watch the barges go up and down the river. There are loads of fantastic bars and restaurants and it is now quite trendy.

The bus trip to the performance was (no surprise) cold along with the theater hallways and (yes surprise) stage. We find drafty doors left open, (literally) rotten risers, and a sub-optimal piano on stage. Not only that, but our violin soloist is too sick to perform... so we plan ...

We left Yuhuan on Tuesday morning and began the 4 hour drive to Ningbo (宁波), arriving in the early afternoon at the Lao Huai Shu Hotel. We had lunch when we arrived and then we were given a bit of free time before we had to report for the concert. I took the opportunity to get out of the hotel and went for a walk along the Yuyao river (余姚江).

Our second concert was at the Ningbo ...
