Halloween week was a crazy one! It was a busy week getting ready for Halloween and having all the kids excited about it. Here are some of the highlights of the week....

This week my Zebras class was actually really well behaved, usually they are a little crazy. They did a great job on Tuesday so before class started on Thursday I praised them for how good they were and told them they should try to be good again on Thursday. One of my kids raises his hands and says "Why is ...
Taichung, Taiwan ashleysblog... I felt so bad for the kid.

But on to the good things. These kids are able to do things independently. Every morning they come in and they unpack their bags on their own. They have 3 food bowls with different color lids and they put them each in the correct spot, put their water bottle away and their folders and then they put their bags away! When we would go outside to play, they all could find their shoes and put them on by themselves, we don't wear shoes ...
Taichung, Taiwan ashleysblog... home was cheaper but it took us about 2 1/2 hous on the buses as opposed to the 1 hour taxi ride from Andres! By the time we got home we were all very tired from our long day of hiking and the hot weather! Today I woke up with some sore legs from our day of adventure, but it was all worth it! Next weekend we are thinking about heading to Taipei (the capital) to go out for my birthday! I will keep you updated on our plans! Until later.....love ya and miss ya!
Taichung, Taiwan ashleysblogThis week has brought some fun new adventures for me. First off I have given my first scooter ride. It is a lot more difficult then you may think. Adding another person on the back throws off the balance. But don't worry for all those that plan on visiting I will be a pro before you get here so I can take you all around Taichung! :)

Today at school I had my first chance to get into the studio to do some recordings for what we call Rainbow ...

But, I was thinking to myself hurry, hurry find out what is happening so I can react!! He chuckled slightly and knew what the urgent call regarded. Apparently, there was a scheduled drill concerning an invasion from the Chinese. They knew about it and had decided not to tell us to see our response. Ha….Ha!
Taichung, Taiwan bentania... but we were bitterly disappointed to find the cafe closed at the top. This did make for a nervous wait as the bus was late and there were no other people around. The thought of another 8km or so to the Park HQ wasn't appealing. Back at the hotel, another trip to the FamilyMart was in order. A huge feast, bigger than the last was required to ease the aches from such a gruelling but thoroughly enjoyable day. A fitting end to our time in Hualien.
Taroko National Park, Taiwan emmaandpaul... with David to go get a foot and head massage while Melinda, Shuying, and I headed back to our hotel to get some rest. The hotel we stayed at was called "the Honeymoon Hotel", because it is marketed at honeymooners. Melinda and I had separate hotel rooms, but they shared a common entrance. Both our rooms looked out front over the street, but mine was closer to the hotel advertising sign attached to the building. It gave the room an interesting glow when the ...
Yuchih, Nantou, Taiwan mcswainkIt's Taiwan summer! Too hot and humid to move? To beat the heat, here some photos from our several river tracing/hiking activities. The trips relate to rivers in Nanau ( East Coast ), Se Ma Ku Se ( Hsinchu County ) and along No.7 northern cross island highway. It is really cool in any sense of the word. Have a look at ...
Se Ma Ku Se, Taiwan kurtmultRoute: Shihtiping - Dagangkou ( mouth of Siouguluansi -river ) - Tropic of Cancer - Basian Cave - Changbin - Shihyuan - Yiwan village Total Distance: 23km Altitude: Difficult to say, always a bit up and a bit down Wake up at 4:15 am, but continue to doze until the sun riese at 4:45. Also my neighbors already wake up. I pack my tent and the backpack, have breakfast and leave at 6:00 am. The toilets are only of the squatter style, which ...

They explain that the tests are made as a basic geological study for the widening of the coastal road. It is getting pretty hot, no wind is going and no trees provide shadow as they did in the mountains. At 12:15pm I arrive in the larger village of Fongbin, where I take my lunch at a 7-11 ( lunch box, yogurt ). A ...
