... the snow. We carried on through Bowness and down past Windermere, somewhere we traditionally avoid like the plague. Lots of musings about what it would be like in summer, possible camping trip on the horizon? The Aquarium is right at the southern tip of Windermere, very pretty and much quieter than the bustle of Bowness. Took us a bit of time to find it but did in the end, tucked into the lakeside. ...

... Decided to head off to Rheged, the touristy hole in the side of the hill we discovered last year. They had the Owls again, and both had a go at holding them! Took a leisurely route down Derwent water and round Buttermere, trying to find the pub which wasn't quite where I remembered it - for future reference it is the bridge hotel, betuutermere, and is in between Buttermere and Crummock Water. Had a jaunt up round Crummock Water and saw a load of die hard runners doing a 10 mile high terrain race, in really rotten weather, all credit to them! The runners all came up past the pub to finish off the race, ...

      Mayburgh Lodge

A travel blog entry by hanklets on Mar 28, 2015

We have arrived at our little lodge for the week! Had a good run up the M6, took us about two and half hours after eventually leaving at least two hours behind schedule. Nana and grandad arrived shortly after too. Really nice to come back the lodge after 3 years away, our entry is still in the guest book! Had a ...
