... moors. The pink and purple of the heather makes for beautiful scenery, however they do lack the Wuthering Heights type bleakness of a few days ago and in Scotland. Only 3 more days to go now, the time has gone so quickly thanks to reasonably good weather, new boots and interesting people along the way. I know one thing, however, having been assisting in the front of the house for the last few days: the service at Gilpin is much more impeccable and much less pretentious than at the Samling. Left the site and walked the 2 miles or so DOWN into Keswick, out the other side through a few fields into Portinscale, gave a little wave to our cottage and followed the signs to the lake, several miles later we arrived at the bottom of Catbells, skirted around this and onto the waters edge, we weren't really sure where the carving was but soon ...

... was full so ended up driving a couple miles up the road and parking along side Crummock Water. Made our way along the shoreline and around to a lovely cafe where we had tea and cake, much hilarity was had as we had read a sign saying make sure the people are sitting balanced on the picnic bench otherwise it may tip, we found this to be true when I got up to go back in the cafe and Debs n Howard nearly ended ...

... a slice of cake. Back on the trail again this time dropping on to the shore line of Derwentwater where Meg the dog was in here element coz she could have a swim in the lake. Spent another hour or so wandering along the shore before arriving back into Keswick where we stopped for a cuppa tea, Howard had cake, we were good :-) . Wandered through the high street popping in a few shops, Meg got a new toy and treats from her favourite doggy shop and we got sweeties ( ...
