The Miracle that is Israel

Shalom, family and friends. We have been in Israel just under a week now, and already we are quite overwhelmed by what we have seen since the last time we visited 30 years ago. While I don't want to make any comparisons from then to now based upon our short stay here, we have found Israel to be a dynamic thriving place full of energy and spirit. We crossed over the Israeli-Jordanian border, and found the people on either side asking us the same question, if not verbally then in ...

Basic Army Training: Infantry Training/Sport

... explained to us: Apparently, the commander of the large Nahal base had received a phone call just an hour ago from Sayaret Malkal, the best unit in the army composed of only 35 soldiers whose identities were unknown until after their army careers were over. They even wear civilian clothes to disguise their membership in this elite unit. So basically, on the night in question, they were carrying out an exercise with the objective of planting a flag on the roof of the cafeteria. Of course ...

... really try to sugarcoat it. They can also think they know best but once you see past that you see they are really great people. Meital, my friend couldnt of been more hospitable, she made me a wicked israeli dinner, made her friend drive for an hour just to bring some usb thing so i could upload my photos and gave me free access to home and all her food while she nipped out.....really made me feel welcome. Unfortunately i could only stay the one night but it was good to catch up.

... Annick and her son Eyal, who's about a year older than me, to shish kebab, where we were served by an Arab waiter that she knows well. He spoke Hebrew with the same accent as any other Israeli, and I had no idea that he wasn't Jewish, I was glad to notice that in some areas in Israel it really doesn't matter whether you're Jewish or Arab. I finally got to watch Frost/Nixon, in bed, and didn't want a big night because I struggle to sleep on planes - tomorrow I fly home!

Along with some cookies we brought, it was a real nice pick-nick it a beautiful landscape - and I forgot the camera at home, that's typical. The girls told me some interesting things about Israel and the conflicts with the Arabic neighbors. Some things I knew from the books I read before I came, some were new to me. If I take their position as representative for the Israeli ...

We said of course we need them, it has our return flight info, not to mention the connections. she said she'll bring them back. After a few minutes she brought them back, saying we should have had paper tickets & do we have them. We said that was all we had. She said it's OK for now, but we may have an issue on the way back. Obviously, we're going to need to contact our agent ...
