What an amazing road..
... the foot of trinity alps..with oldy worldy stores and colourful tree lined streets...
next stop was Shasta historic park... here the remnants of a prosperous gold mining town line the main road, a bakery, blacksmith,hotel and just the walls of other local stores remain.. all abandoned when the locomotive arrived and bypassed little shasta going straight to Redding.
we now turned north again up highway 5 to lake shasta where we spent the night in a quiet empty campsite..

Safely Through The Passes Only To Find.........

One drawback to this park is the weird traffic pattern. One lane roads are not designated as one way. In fact, they cannot be one way due to the layout of the RV sites. Heading North to Oregon
... many trucks of plum tomatoes drove by us and even scattered tomatoes along the roadway.
Arrived in Redding about 2:30. Found a wonderful steakhouse near the hotel. Best steak we've had in a long time. Even beats Longhorn, which is George's favorite place if he isn't eating Shaw's sirloin tips.
