Getting ready to go

... br> Leaving Saturday for L.A. where I'll meet up with Terry Chamorro and stay at her place Saturday night. Sunday morning we have a 7:45am flight out of LAX which means going to the airport at 5:45am. Ungodly time. We are flying on Mexicana Airlines via Mexico City to Guatemala City.
Not exactly sure yet where we'll meet up with Rose and Jim....probably at LAX before the flight.

Westward bound, once again

Finally got the truck back, all fixed and running beautifully. Decided to get on the road, though it was already 2 pm. Headed south along Flathead Lake through green forests and valleys to I-90, then west, west, west. All uphill, what a climb, to Coeur d'Alene in Idaho, then downhill into Washington State. Spent almost two hours trying to find Riverside State Park in the city of Spokane, finally set up the camper and tried to settle down for the night.

Star Spangled Banner - Mutton Bustin

It was a very sad morning, saying farewell to our ranching chums. Sid and Nancy left very early for Philadelphia, Robert and Kelly to Indiana, Jill, Fred and William (who came for a long weekend) back to Dallas and the heat and Jane, Jim, Steve and Judith off to Spokane for their afternoon flight to San Francisco. The Greens and Priests set about loading their RVs ready for the next stage of our holiday - us to drive to Plains, Montana (about 2.5hours away) and The Greens to San ...

Pantyhose, Kayaking and Sample Menus

... cleansed with a basil and lime sorbet (to die for), trout and fennel, shredded beef and a cheese dish which incorporated a fusion of blue cheese with other cheeses. All the bread accompanying the meal, pastries and desserts were all prepared and not one item frozen. The wine was from Washington. As I sit here I am finding it hard to remember all the ingredients and really annoyed that I did not write it down. A memorable meal and we are only ...

... 3 14th which is a 170 yard (it’s on a pulley system where they can vary the length of the green from the mainland!) 7 iron onto a man made island green which you get to and from on a boat called “The Putter”. What a hole and what an amazing course. American golf at its best where they think of everything including fans on greens to cool you down and ...

"loping" in the mountains

... poem about two loyal friends who mined and one promised the other that should he die that he would cremate him so he finishes his day warm. It is funny how little country /western songs you know especially when our music library only has a few Johnny Cash cds so we are fairly green on Tom’s country/ blue grass music repertoire. Mind you he was good and we sang along when we could, thankfully the American contingent held their own.

Don't bother with riding lessons in the UK!

We were up early to see the horses being driven from the mountain to the valley. It was a great sight with the horses galloping by (loping is the word over her) being herded by the wranglers, then off for breakfast.

The first thing to do this morning was to get the boots and chaps sorted out. Kids first and Edie was given a fantastic pair of sparkly pink riding boots (not quite boy but she loved them). The kids looked really cute with their ...

Goodbye Bellingham

... third was hay and wheat fields. Once again the hay fields, or at least many, were irrigated! That just blows my mind. We had an interesting experience today. Off to the south I noticed what looked like three or four very large explosions. As we watched, the smoke and dust seemed to come together and form one very large cloud which soon turned into a mushroom shaped cloud! Well, rather than hitting the panic button, I remembered seeing on a map that there was an area in ...
