MEXICO AWAITS!

... passengers are bundled aboard. The captain makes an announcement that we are waiting for a few stray passengers. I am shooting photo’s, chatting with Sharon and Al who have strolled up, and watching the shore men wait to cast off the lines. Finally I see a couple running form the gates towards the ship. Is that Paul and Frances, our Halifaxian dining companions? They are ushered on board quickly, the gangplank is pulled and we are cast off almost ...

Docked but under the Weather

Arrived in Puerto Vallarta - safe and sound. Rained most of the day. I stayed in bed most fo the day trying to kick the flu.

By nightfall it was a beautiful sunset under clearer skies.

But Mazatlan was closed due to weather - and thus we stayed for another day in PV.

Fuck Culture, Let's Dance

... find in any part of Mexico.
I took the local bus to the bus depo and asked the driver to tell me where to get off. He told me to get off and pointed to the big building across the road. I think it was an airport, it definitely was not a bus terminal. But I didn’t realise this until I was off the bus and in the building. I was running late now, I jumped on the next bus and they took me a few more stops and then told me to get off. I had 10 minutes ...

No snow here

Hi All, Not much to report from here, weather is 30 & sunny every day. Have managed to reconnect with all my friends from last year and seem to always be busy. We have a couple of road trips up the coast and into the mountains this week. Also need to plan a week full of activities for when Megan & Matt arrive. I hope all the snow storms have left Vancouver and Halifax. Cheers, Allan

... Mexico I think that'll be my alias. I can't say that Chico Skwinlays will be popular with the huggable dog set anytime soon. With our Chico's foray done we walked back to the car. On the way was a tequila distillery (I didn't capitalize tequila since we weren't in Tequila...). I forced everyone in for a tasting but the kids were getting restless which caused the Moms to be restless... After our drive back we headed back to Girasol Sur for ...

Fishing Day Two on the Miss Adventure

... than the other boats fishing out of that marina on that day. Our crew was proud of our results and hoisted the sailfish and dorado flags before we returned to port. Their friends crowded in to appreciate the catch, it may have been their first time guiding on their own. I'm glad for them that it was a success, guiding fishermen is one of the better jobs available in Puerto Vallarta. If I lived there, it's definitely the job I'd want.

Daily life in PV!

... that were working (Carla and Sandra). We read the menu and of course had a few questions as the standard pork, steak and chorizo tacos were accompanied by words we were unfamiliar with. Carla was nice enough to educate us. They had lengua (tongue), cachete (cheek), cabeza (head), tripa (intestines), and surtido (a mixture of all four). Our adventurous spirit raised its head again and we ordered a tripa. Geraldine had no qualms as she has eaten some 'weird' stuff with ...

Signs and Promises

Well, its morning of my departure! Am sad to leave, but somewhat excited to get back to Philly (who ever thought I would be writing that?). Had dinner at the restaurant, as I promised I would. Lovely place, warm welcome. Of course, it was 8 in the evening and I was the first customer of the day! I have to say the food was exceptional, one of the best meals I have had in months. However, the price was rather steep ($75 US) for one person. Here in PV that ...
