I'm working on a grant for the National Institutes of Health that is due early next week. Once that's done, it's full-on preparation for our month-long Journey to India. Daisy is doing her Santa impression (making her list, checking it thrice) and we received 4 new pieces of luggage the other day.

The airline tickets are booked and now we just have to finalize some domestic trips while on the sub-continent.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States vdroverExciting times! One more day before the big trip and we are doing out last minute preparations before we go. There are things to be packed though and that will get done tonight and then a little bit more tomorrow. We have an evening flight so we should be pretty well rested and ready to scout about Copenhagen as soon as we get checked into the hotel.

Stay tuned for more!
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States gildo... it would be to pick out one.

Presently, Wisconsin is very chilly. I feel like it's October, rather than August. The high is in the very low 60's! Today I've just been working around the house, making bread, washing jackets and getting my room clean.

That's all I got for now, but will write more when I have more!
Muskego, Wisconsin, United States krtravels... had initially discussed grabbing some breakfast sandwiches at one of our favorite local chains but the family ended up gorging on leftover pizza and muffins...(and maybe some ice cream and bold party chex mix--hey it's mostly cereal). Dave's poor incredibly svelte fit girlfriend just looked on in disgust while she nibbled on some cherries. We are disgusting. After some rounds of Wii dodgeball and plenty of Mario Kart it was time to ...
Muskego, Wisconsin, United States chmielewskijThanks to Rob for allowing me to stay in his baller ass apartment situated directly on top of a bar, I got to experience the greatness that is Milwaukee (when the weather is nice). I got to hit up a few brewery tours, some sweet bars (spy bar!), cheap beer wasn't hard to find, finally tried out P90X (ouch) and I even experienced the Blink182 ...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States dmdmadzIn Milwaukee, Wisconsin, my sister and I had lunch with another Nebraska Press author, Lawrence A Baldassaro. He's a professor at a Milwaukee university, and his book focuses on Italian Americans in baseball, and the history of Italians in the U.S. I learned from him something that I had never heard before---that thousands of Italian Americans were arrested and hundreds were interned in military ...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States moonminder... slow. It is not just me. This evening I caught the elevator by chance and a fellow guest asked if I was heading for the stairs in a knowing tone. And we agreed the hotel does not have much going for it other than location. Speaking of location, it is well located near Solley's. Solley's is about a block away. For those who do not know it is a lunch counter like restaurant. There are about 20 seats around a counter. And they serve burgers ...

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States tlbuster... for Denver where there's a 45 minute layover just in time to meet Mike and then hop on the plane to San Fransisco. We get in at 11:30 PM, then it is off to a hotel that's pretty near the airport to get some sleep before we head back to the airport around nine or a little bit before nine. Oh well, 42 days will start when we leave tomorrow as we head on in for round two of this project.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States gildo... a visit until time for Tricia and Mary to go the airport. Mary and Ellen got the "man-eating chairs" (very comfortable; impossible to get out of if you are more than 18 years of age). Ellen and Rob took the others off to the airport while I cranked out a journal entry. Then Ellen and I sat around reading Lamb for awhile.... ...and then we ...
