Day 2 NYC

Today was in the 40s but still raw and chilly. We walked north today, up Madison and fifth avenue, stopping at a watch store and the Beretta store. We had a great lunch at Lavo on e58. Again, place was jammed with holiday parties but we sat in bar by front window so was great. My truffle fries and bread pudding made with croissants, dark chocolate chunks and caramel sauce ( with a side of vanilla ice cream) were outstandingly delicious! Again, not having ...

... wasn't as bad as it sounds. Got to see the tree at Rockefeller center which was very pretty in rain. To us, NY didn't have as many decorations and lights as we expected! When we got back to hotel around 10, we decided to have dinner at the wine bar, Madison and Vine, that is connected to the hotel. Was delightful! ... much! The food was perfunctory steakhouse...nothing special compared to some other place we have been over the years! We quickly went back to room and to sleep. Room was nice...right on Madison with a little bump out with windows and small chair and couch. Nice amenities. We didn't use the roof garden but peeking in, it looked charming! Nor did we take advantage of daily wine and cheese ...

... in MA. Beaches are way too cold in MA to even consider going to the beach in the high of Summer.

Also, It had been quite inconvenient making a living and planing vacation with limited resources and poor health.

John Jr. is in Paris for the rest of the month, both Gio and Nancy will be working during the summer, so its the perfect opportunity to leave alone for a change.
