    ... Lincoln so after a stop at Cold Stone for ice cream on arrival we toured about to see his tomb. Passed the State capital building too which was impressive.

    Bob Evans diner for dinner so managed to source vegetables. Succumbed to the chocolate cake dessert too. Mmm. Piccies to follow once my photographers have their act in order;)

    ... br> When we tried to find the famous Route 66 Cozy Dog Diner and failed, we ended up at another Route 66 place (we were feeling brave until we walked in and found it to be a sketchy place with a tacky Tiki Bar!) and gratefully left when we were told they had just stopped serving lunch. Thank you, Arby's across the street, for your clean place and new BLT sandwich ... phew.

    Onward to cross the Mississipi River south of St. Louis, MO.

    ... it so gave up and passed by a few more 66 icon places on the way up to Litchfield. The cafe from 1929 is a traditional American diner and serves up some tasty grub. We hopped across the road to the Litchfield Route 66 museum where we checked out the old 66 exhibits.

    As we we left the heavens opened and it lashed it down. It was a sign of the things to come as we managed to snake between country roads for about an hour trying to find our way ...

    ... got to sit in it :) he had pins on maps from all the people who had ever stopped and I was the first from belfast in quite a few years! Heading towards Pontiac it was like Roberts idea of heaven......tractors galore! They seemed to be having a tractor run and I even had the privilege of going around to see all the excellent machinery there was to offer lol i jest as it was quite cool but don't tell Robert that! ...
