Not a bad run compared to tomorrows trip - as we arrived early and before we could book in we went into down town Springfield and visited The Abraham Lincoln Museum - they may only have a short past compared to ours but they are very good at presenting it ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfiel d,_Illinois http://www.visit-springfieldillinois.co m/Lincoln/Museum/ Glad we made the visit - especially as the Motel was out of the way, although clean and comfortable I wasn't ...

After dinner we headed for our ...

Visited the war museum and the Route 66 museum at Pontiac, really interesting. The bike really uses lots of fuel, only did 100 miles and needed to refill it, it cost an outstanding $7 ...

St Louis, Missouri bound

The Gateway Arch greeted us as we crossed the Mississippi River into St Louis but that was not going to be our destination.

First stop - The Cathedral Basilica. A docent inside explained the history. Construction began in 1907 ...
