      Never again

      Well, where to start... I booked this hotel for me and my wife back in November 2004. First what we noticed was the terrible atmosphere in the lobby, as if someone died in there.

      After that, we noticed the carpets in the halls were never cleaned, at least for a year. But okay, my thoughts about this hotel was still positive (hell, who'm I kidding) but after seeing and smelling the room it radical changed into the opposite. Boy, I still regret I didn't check out right away.

      Now, in the evening we were planning to go to take a swim in the swimming pool. But after seeing it I again had a feeling as if someone died in there. There where several people near the edge of the swimming pool, but nobody were in it. The lights in the yard could be better and much more brighter. It's that kind of yellow light which make you confussed about the colors you'd seen. Yuck, I felt terrible in that moment and left..

      We decided never ever to go back again. Better we need to spent a few bucks more!!

      A nightmare come true

      We have visited Disney in the winter months for years now and have always had a nice experience.

      This trip Feb 2005 we brought Two underprivledged children with us and our blind dog who requires insulin shots twice a day and our other dog Baby.

      We travel quite a bit in the united states and have Never been treated the way we were at our stay at the Howard Johnson in Orlando.

      As usual we looked on line for the best deals and booked a room for 9 days.

      When we checked in the room was very small and looked very used and in need of updating.

      The phone did not work, and the Tv was fuzzy and making strange noises and the fridge never did work and you could see the outside where the wall was seperating and the plastic on the airconditioner was broke and sharp, we went to the front desk and told them on these things and they later sent a man to fix the phone and tv.

      We were told that there was a $25 fee per dog for the deposit as we already knew when we booked the stay.

      They advertise a deluxe breakfast, I will not comment, but urge you to see this for yourself :} Black bananas and all!

      The room was fine ........ and who wants to look for another once you are tired and have traveled all that way and the kids are anxious for the area attractions! We can over look these things :}

      One of the children were feeling under the weather the night before we were to check out.

      We asked about getting the room another night and were told that they were full, so we called the 800 number for Ho Jo and they said they had rooms availiable right where we were at!

      So we booked the room throught the 800 number and went to the front desk and they said" there will be another $25 per pet charge, I asked why since we never checked out .... they were very rude and untruthful and said I told them I was not going to pay the bill, when all I did was dispute the new pet charges, they called the police and said I said we were not going to pay the bill, which I NEVER EVER said and we were removed by the police, 2 kids 2 dogs one sick child, we had to pack everything up while the police were there, I called the news to come and see because this was not right at all and the police said we had 20 minutes!

      I wrote on the bill when I paid it, THAT THE pet charges disputed, and when the last of out things were out of the room I asked the officer to look at it do he could see it was clean and no damage, he did.

      Now this is the kicker!

      The Owner of the motel wrote us a letter stating that if we dispute the bill he has pictures he took of our room { this man lives in Georgia} and said that the room had to be closed down for 4 days for repairs!

      We cleaned the rooms each day ourselves, got the supplies from the maid, except garbage bags as we had to buy them as they do not have any.

      We walked the dogs on leashes. picked up the feces when dropped in designated areas of motel and when we were not there, the dogs were in crates as the officer also saw.

      All of this happened on valentines day and the choldren were going to have dinner with the Disney Characters but never did, needless to say this ruined the trip and violated our rights and were treated like criminals, just for rebooking the room and questioning the pet charges.

      this is all true and I have the letters if you care for a copy.

      Beware, we are the average american family on a trip to the magic Kingdom and were treated very bad.

      The room smelt of mould and the bedding was filthy. Bathroom was minging and air conditioning was broke and water leaked all over the carpet, no one fixed it. The tv was also broken. Never go here again and would not recommend it.

      OK Hotel

      We stayed here and found no problems. It was pleasant enough. Didn't see roaches or anything.

      Good location, close to sights and Universal Studios.

      Hell on earth

      having been placed here wrongly by our travel agent we decided to make the most of it,firstly we requested a family room when we booked our trip and payed the agent for it then,when we checked out we were given a bill for nearly $150.00 for upgrading. the room itself was disgusting smelling puetride (we were given a can of airfreshener by house keeping)after just 2 nights we checked out for good. i refused to pay for the upgrade and got my self arrested in the process only when i showed the police my bill & the photos i had taken did they let me go with there appologys (& sympathy i think). i have been informed not to return to this hotel again, like id want to. just one thing to advise ..... stay the hell away from this place if you want to enjoy your self in orlando, there are plenty better hotels in the area for less$$$$, the rodeway is only two hotels away but a world apart from this.

      One week late deal boxing day 04

      this is a normal run of the mill motel in the heart of int drve. some where quick & easy to lay your head. will do for one week. how ever the free breakfast was excelent and worthy of a 4* hotel. rooms were cleaned every day

      Two nights was enough in this dump

      On arrival at this hotel [September 04] it was immediately obvious that the room we were given was not up to a reasonable standard.

      On opening the door to our room for the first time we were greeted by the smell of damp. The smell was extremely potent and was noticeable to all members of our party. On notifying the hotel personnel of this problem we were told that there was nothing they could do as there were no other rooms available. The attitude of the staff we spoke to was very poor.

      The general level of hygiene in the room was simply unacceptable. The walls of the room had various patches of mould and the carpet was not all clean. After settling down to get some sleep on our first night we were then plagued by continuous noise from the locking mechanism of the room's safe. After notifying the front-desk an engineer was sent to fix the problem. However, he had to return another three times before the safe was fixed which made getting to sleep impossible - bearing in mind that it was now late at night and we had all had a very long flight.

      When we booked this holiday we had specifically asked for a room on the ground floor with facilities for a disabled person. My wife's mother has extreme difficulty moving around without the aid of a wheelchair, or a walking stick for short distances, but our room did not have any rails in the bathroom so she could not shower or bathe for the first two days of our vacation. On the second day of our holiday we complained to the front-desk about this and were told that there were no other rooms available. They also said that they did not know when there would be any other rooms available, as I was asking for a room on the ground floor with disabled access.

      Thankfully, after speaking to a Thomson representative, we were moved to a much more suitable hotel [the Quality Inn International]. However, the events of the first two days had been very upsetting to us all.

      I would not recommend this hotel to even my gravest of enemies. Avoid like the plague.

      Just the Basics

      We stayed at this hotel from 8/19/04 - 8/23/04. We arrived at 11:30am as we had booked early flights. We were told that none of the rooms were cleaned and we would have to wait. So we wandered around the area for 2.5 hours, came back, and there were still no rooms ready. At this point there were a number of cranky guests waiting in the small lobby for their rooms. We finally got into our room at 3pm, however when we opened the door, the room hadn't been cleaned!

      We went back to the desk, had to wait another 20 minutes until they "found" a room that had been cleaned. It had a broken safe and no microwave, but that point we didn't feel like dealing with it.

      The cleaning jobs were iffy - the floors were never vacumed, and the maids idea of changing the garbage cans was emptying it and putting a new bag, still folded, into the empty can.

      The rooms do have a smell to them (mold?) and the comforters could stand to be washed. The staff could have been a bit more pleasant.

      The hotel does not have a shuttle to/from Orlando airport, contrary to what it stated on the website. We had to take a taxi for $40. The shuttle that was provided to/from SeaWorld was not marked and ended up in us calling the shuttle company from SeaWorld and being screamed at by some idiot on the other end, who insisted the bus was there. We finally found the bus, though it was not marked in any way and one would have no idea it was the shuttle back to the hotel.

      The area is very busy and loud, with not a lot to do except eat at a few chain restaurants. There is a bus and a trolley stop in front of the hotel, but we still waited 30 minutes to be picked up because the buses were always full. Not a great location.

      All in all, this hotel was what we paid for. It is right next to a Holiday Inn, which was very nice but was $99 a night. However, if we ever go back, which I highly doubt we will, we would pay the extra cash for a nicer place. It just felt dirty and everything about it was a hassle.

      I nver had a problem

      I have stayed here twice (6/98 & 6/01) and i never encountered any problems. We only needed the room to sleep in as we went to Orlando to go To Disney. The pool is small but decent, and I loved that they didnt have an early closing of the pool, it was nice to come back from all the daily lines and sun burning at the parks and relax by the pool and have a beer or soda at night by the pool.

      Do Not Stay Here

      I was very disappointed with our stay at this location recently. To begin with our reservations were not right. I had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights on ground level. When we went to check in there was only a reservation for 1 room and it was not at ground level. Even with my confirmation from hotellocators.com it took over 45 minutes to get everything straightened out. The paper from the hotel and different websites stated that there was a breakfast buffet that included eggs, bacon, etc. There was no such thing. They did have 2 self-serve waffle makers, one which was broken and a broken toaster. Although they offered a free shuttle to Sea World, the times that it arrived and departed were awful. The rooms had a "smell" to them, even though they were non-smoking. After our rooms were cleaned the first night and our dirty towels were taken, no new towels were brought back. When my step-mother went to go to bed the first night, there were lots of black hairs in her sheets. That was nasty. There was only one ice machine in the entire hotel that worked and it was on the second floor. The internet site said "newly renovated deluxe double suites". I don't know what was newly renovated. The bedspreads looked and smelled like they had been there forever. The room looked and felt "dirty". The carpets were dirty. We had to ask for a refrigerator, that was supposed to be in the room. Unfortunately, we were stuck with this motel because it was Spring Break week, but I can assure you we will never stay there again and I will let others know of our experience.

      ... Alberta has a lovely homemade Chinese meal waiting at home and we tell them about our action packed day. I'd emailed Alberta to tell her I might be strangling her guest when I was eating my sandwich and so when Atabey goes to bed she asks what happened. I tell her and we have a laugh and she says I shouldn't have let it get to me, and she's right.

      I play with the puppies for a bit and then head to bed to rest up for (finally!) a day by myself at Epcot - the last Disney World I've got to see ...

      Universal was great fun, the details of the themes such as Harry Potter (although not a fan myself) was impressive and the rides were excellent. There were some good ...
