... written about it in her travel blog. So, I defer to her on this one. She gives a really excellent perspective, not just on this one but on all her blogs. It's definitely worth keeping up on

http://mariahthompson.wordpre ss.com/

-Now I’m going to go wallow in self pity and cough up some more gross mucus stuff and maybe get some reading or work done. Or maybe just watch Arrested Development.

Back to La Plata

... for lunch with Eva, Eduardo, Fabiana, and Giselle. I now remember why I gained some weight in Argentina. We had a gigantic plate of chicken, rice, and potatoes. When we were finished with the first plate, there was more food to be eaten. We had a great time, and Jess' 6 years of spanish have really come in handy...not. During lunch today, Jess said everyone might as well have been speaking Russian. After spending a couple hours there, Ricardo ...

Colonia & Wine Tour # 5

... steak, bacon and cheese sandwich! Later on my wanders brought me across a group of locals in practice for Carnival - the girls and ladies of all ages, shapes and sizes dancing samba and the men beating drums, all led by a young man with an almighty flag. It was a sight and it's a powerful rhythm. I also bumped into Heinz from Hamburg (see Mendoza) and we had a catch up I also realised why I found him so peculiar....he was stuck in time - around the early 80's ...

Losing 10 lbs in 10 days: The backpacker's diet

... I HATE places that lie about their facilities. It's clearly advertised as having A/C, but they've only got a fan in the room. From the website description, it sounds like a cool, funky, artsy place, but it was pretty average. The dorms are crowded, and there's no real art vibe to speak of. The staff is excellent, however - very friendly, and they are very helpful with sightseeing tips, and with anything else you might need. Perhaps I should ...

Architecture in Argentina

... to a good cause, I wouldn't have minded, but this was an expensive church in a wealthy neighbourhood. And the money just went into this guys top pocket. Anyway, having gone all the way out there, I felt I may as well pay it anyway. I took some photos but felt uncomfortable because of the way I was being watched. So I didn't stay long and ended up retiring for the day. It was another long one. A good one, but one that left me exhausted by it's end.

La Plata (Parte 1)

Too bad the kid has a girlfriend and can't speak a word of Spanish (I actually have to give him credit, by the end of his trip he was able to put some words together to form some sentences). I would tell the girls that he couldn't speak Spanish, but that he can speak French (this is actually only partially true since he took French in high school but has long lost ...
