    ... there we took it easy and went to Rockford, IL in two days, about 95km. We couldn't find a warmshower host so we turned to couchsurfing. The next day we cycled to White Pine Forest State Park (60km, 37 miles). We met up with cousin John and his friends. We stayed a couple nights, tubed down the Rock river, had lots of fun!

    I have to admit that Chicago is one cool city, it has awesome parks, beaches and tons of things to do! It was hard to narrow down what we wanted to do during our short stay here and decided on the Lincoln Park Zoo. It is historic, beautiful, compact in space but delivers on super cool stuff, as it is free!

    ... sculptures - and crowds were enjoying skating at an outdoor rink there. Chicago is a very big, cold, & usually Windy City, but thankfully we didn't have the wind. We were told that the tee rapture had't risen above freezing for the previous two weeks. There are many very big modern skyscrapers and the skyline is quite impressive.     Today was the big day. The instigating reason for dropping down into the States here in the Midwest on my return journey. My Grandpa Bratt's 90th birthday party. A big celebration at my Dad and Shanasy's home: catered, decorated, festive... and of course, with live music!
