... new concept. When I talk to Sharron about her experiences growing up in the '60s, every story she tells is linked to a song, every memory is associated with some piece of music. The same applies for my meetings with Bob, the 95-year-old WWII Vet. When we got to New Haven it was pouring rain outside so we spent the evening watching Star Trek and playing Super ...

... really opens up your mind. I know for the majority of people this is near impossible, but it is life changing. I can sit here and write hundreds of pages on my experience, but I’ll try to keep it to the basics.

The major thing I found traveling was that people are innately good. I’ve read this in a million travel books but never realized it until I left Taiwan. Of course you run ...

... at 11.30am (because I didn't have to be at work that day, at the forefront of scientific discovery), and got to work. I may or may not have been asleep on the couch when they arrived. Their work took quite a while, and it was about 90 degrees (a touch over 30 Celsius) so I decided I'd do my own bit of handywork and install an AC unit in my room.

I went down to Home Depot, picked up my AC (which weighed about 4 tonnes), got lost in the parking lot carrying it back to my car ...
