Good place to stay before your flight

    Clean and reasonably priced.
Meals were fine. Shame about the windows in the elevator foyer. Could do with a clean.
Careful with the airport shuttle bus drivers, they don't work for the hotel, so no matter what the bloke at the hotel has said, double check with the driver. They run their own show.

I stayed here for free using my points as a departure hotel the night before my return flight to the east coast.

It was a healty walk from the rental car company to the hotel and the van runs to the airport every 30 minutes. The accomidations were OK, but the vibe of the place felt a little sketchy.

Hey, it was only one night and my goal was to just sleep.

    Good for a short stay

The hotel offered a clean room, spacious bathroom and everything appeared very clean and quite new (renovated in 1992).

They also offered a fridge in the room. Free parking spaces and parking garage available. There's a nice Shopping center down Manchester Avenue, just ask at reception.

    Avoid Mr. Lucky

Hotel keys weren't working; my husband had to go downstairs three times to get someone to let us in the room. Lucky's Rental Car works out of the lobby and rented us a dented, damaged, dirty vehicle with 200+K miles on it, no taillight, bad brakes, and a faulty transmission. The price is right, but that's about all.

    Not like the pictures...

I arrived late and had a room guaranteed for hold. I had actually called prior to arriving and requested a king bed instead of the 2 doubles and was assured that it was changed, upon arrival they had no record of my request and I was stuck with the 2 doubles. I was not pleased with the room. It smelled like smoke throughout our floor even though all doors were marked no smoking on that level. The bathroom was not the greatest and the TV does not have ESPN (my boyfriend was not happy). The pictures on the internet are nothing like the actual hotel. I will not return for a second stay. I was disappointed.

The Hotel location Great Hotel Okay

The Howard Johnson hotel was quite average and do able for a good rate not to exceed 100 per night.

The hotel did provide a refrigerator for cold refreshments and the room was clean. It does have a swimming pool my son just loved. It gave him an opportunity to meet other travellers. It has an interesting array of client. Those from foreign countries e.g. Amsterdam, Brazil, Mexico and those locals who I believe live month to month at the hotel. They appear to be a little on the shady side, but not dangerous as they have a security guard 24 hours. The police did come to visit some guests twice during our visit. I felt safe there and my room was okay. I don't think I would stay there on my return trip to Los Angeles. I think I would just pay the extra bucks for a better hotel.

With all that said the hotel was in a great location for travelling to the tourist sites of LA

    Try another motel

We had stayed at Howard Johnson across from Disneyland and thought it was great so decided to stay here the last night to get to the airport fast the next morning. The staff was friendly, the lobby was nice, but was disappointed in the room. When we first walked in, it had an odor, and even though the carpet looked clean, it felt sticky when walking on it. Was disappointed but was ok for 1 night sleeping.

    Huge Room

A basic hotel, but the room was huge compared to my earlier stay at Quality Inn LAX. My room was clean, neat & tidied. Not as bad as one of the review I read.

The hotel was like 15 to 20-minutes walk from Budget Car Rental, where you could just pick up your rental car conveniently.

It's a value for money hotel.

HJ is a basic hotel close to Lax, we just stayed here 1 night before going to vegas next morning. We ate at Sizzlers next door, very enjoyable and had small breakfast in chinese restaurant. I wouldnt stay here for a long stay.

Hotel is good but restrant manager (Chinese woman) is terrible

HJ hotel is reasonaly priced and we often use this hotel as a family.

hotel employees are very helpful and enjoyable to stay in this hotel.

Hotel has Chinese restrant. We had bad experience with the restrant manager (Chinese woman). WHen we asked dinner buffet, we were told adult is $12.95 and kids are half price. When we finished dinner, the kid's pricing was not half price. I have asked why and the restrant manager said,

One of your kid is not 10 years o.ld. (She was 10 years old.) Even though she is 10 years old, they can not give half price since it depends on what she eats. (It is a buffet.) Noone elese will give this price besides you used dinner coupon. (Coupn is supplied by hotel besides of that Sizzler next to this hotel has better deal.)

Well with this type fo illogical attitude restrant manager carries, iI really gave us bad impression about whole trip.

It is very unfortunate that I will not stay in this hotel again because of restrant manager's bad attitude.

    Won't Stay Here Again

Stayed here for our first night in the US and was glad it was only for one night. The location is awful but as it is very close to the Airport I suppose that is inevitable. I did not feel safe here.

The room was old fashioned and dirty with stains on the floor, carpets, bathroom fittings and bed linen.

This place needs a refit. Avoid.

Well, after an early wake-up call, Kathy and I got ready for the final leg of our trip. After indulging in apples, bananas and hot oatmeal to get us somewhat energized, we boarded the shuttle from the Holiday Inn Express and headed back to the airport for the final flight of our trip. After a very quick and easy checkin and walk through security, …
