So our depressing journey home starts. We had a 4 and a half hour flight back from Hawaii for our one night stay in LA again. Arrived at 6am hoping for early check in. Soooo glad they gave us our room. Was both knackered after travelling throughout the night. Had a bit of a snooze when we first arrived (after our maccies brekkie) Then went for a …

1st day of holidays!

... The girl was home in bed sick. The number of people I know is nowhere near how many the Guru knows so to bump into someone overseas you have not seen for 2 years is a bit weird.

Elle goes to the pier while I go back to the room to sort out a couple of things. Apparently the way to get to Hollywood from here is a bus so I get instructions. I talk to my nephew and he tells me that will take an hour and 40 minute bus ride. When Leanne gets home I explain all this to her and we ...

... get an ice-cream. Of course there are merchandising shops everywhere, and while I don’t have any desire to wear ‘ears’ like about 50% of the other females in the place, I did succumb and buy a vintage-look Mickey shirt. Now I will fit right in!

With seriously aching legs, we headed back to the hotel for a swim and bit of a re-coup before heading back out to catch the World of Colour show. The best way I can describe this ...

... he must understand he will play a vital role in the baby's life' and how 'it's a devastating blow to his chance of claiming the throne' erm does no one in America know that he's known about the baby for 9 months! And is actually probably very happy about this fact! Anyway now we've upgraded from the bus station to our good friend Starbucks! And Lauren currently looks like a zombie as we wait to check in to our hostel! So the hostel isn't exactly ...

Good place to stay before your flight

    Clean and reasonably priced.
Meals were fine. Shame about the windows in the elevator foyer. Could do with a clean.
Careful with the airport shuttle bus drivers, they don't work for the hotel, so no matter what the bloke at the hotel has said, double check with the driver. They run their own show.

I stayed here for free using my points as a departure hotel the night before my return flight to the east coast.

It was a healty walk from the rental car company to the hotel and the van runs to the airport every 30 minutes. The accomidations were OK, but the vibe of the place felt a little sketchy.

Hey, it was only one night and my goal was to just sleep.

    Good for a short stay

The hotel offered a clean room, spacious bathroom and everything appeared very clean and quite new (renovated in 1992).

They also offered a fridge in the room. Free parking spaces and parking garage available. There's a nice Shopping center down Manchester Avenue, just ask at reception.

    Avoid Mr. Lucky

Hotel keys weren't working; my husband had to go downstairs three times to get someone to let us in the room. Lucky's Rental Car works out of the lobby and rented us a dented, damaged, dirty vehicle with 200+K miles on it, no taillight, bad brakes, and a faulty transmission. The price is right, but that's about all.

    Not like the pictures...

I arrived late and had a room guaranteed for hold. I had actually called prior to arriving and requested a king bed instead of the 2 doubles and was assured that it was changed, upon arrival they had no record of my request and I was stuck with the 2 doubles. I was not pleased with the room. It smelled like smoke throughout our floor even though all doors were marked no smoking on that level. The bathroom was not the greatest and the TV does not have ESPN (my boyfriend was not happy). The pictures on the internet are nothing like the actual hotel. I will not return for a second stay. I was disappointed.

The Hotel location Great Hotel Okay

The Howard Johnson hotel was quite average and do able for a good rate not to exceed 100 per night.

    Try another motel

We had stayed at Howard Johnson across from Disneyland and thought it was great so decided to stay here the last night to get to the airport fast the next morning. The staff was friendly, the lobby was nice, but was disappointed in the room. When we first walked in, it had an odor, and even though the carpet looked clean, it felt sticky when walking on it. Was disappointed but was ok for 1 night sleeping.

    Huge Room

A basic hotel, but the room was huge compared to my earlier stay at Quality Inn LAX. My room was clean, neat & tidied. Not as bad as one of the review I read.

The hotel was like 15 to 20-minutes walk from Budget Car Rental, where you could just pick up your rental car conveniently.

It's a value for money hotel.

HJ is a basic hotel close to Lax, we just stayed here 1 night before going to vegas next morning. We ate at Sizzlers next door, very enjoyable and had small breakfast in chinese restaurant. I wouldnt stay here for a long stay.

Hotel is good but restrant manager (Chinese woman) is terrible

HJ hotel is reasonaly priced and we often use this hotel as a family.

    Won't Stay Here Again

Stayed here for our first night in the US and was glad it was only for one night. The location is awful but as it is very close to the Airport I suppose that is inevitable. I did not feel safe here.

The room was old fashioned and dirty with stains on the floor, carpets, bathroom fittings and bed linen.

This place needs a refit. Avoid.
