... be open when the ride returns are fast food restaurants. The small downtown area will be closed.

One sad note - Kudzu is starting to overrun the edges of the train route. It covers the banks of the railroad track and surrounding trees for the first few miles, encasing everything including trees. It even covered a truck that had been left in a parking lot. Kudzu is so envasive, it reminds me of the scene in ...
Bryson City, North Carolina, United States dave-sue-rv... and had a full size fridge and couch as well..if only I could have seen the inside. So Merry Pranksters looking, how could I not be interested after all?

Actually making moves and getting westbound was a fight of Atlas vs. GPS....old school vs. new school...the GPS was somehow deemed the all knowing, so we endlessly plowed along...through residential neighborhoods, over a curb (result being food flying out of cabinets and down onto Christa). RV Rule #1 that we've learned ...
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, United States ktowers86... to do that another day! ) From the movie (and the website), we learned, to our surprise, that this is the most visited National Park (although we question how they know that, as this is the only one we've ever been to that does not have an entry gate or an entry fee!) With the highway running through the park, I guess they figure every car that comes down 441 South is a "visitor to the park"! The smoky-looking fog that always hangs over ...
Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, United States pykesonthego... Park area.

We arrived at our campground, (a small park right on Walden Creek that managed to squeeze a lot of RV's into very little space), at 1:15. We were horrified, when we turned off of I-40 to head into Pigeon Forge, to see traffic at a standstill as far as we could see. Pigeon Forge (Home of Dollywood) and Gatlinburg have become huge tourist attractions, with miles and miles of T-Shirt Shops, Ripley's Believe it ...
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States pykesonthego... heading back to the hotel and when we come out it is again pouring.

I am tempted to drive past my old apartment but I’m really hurting so instead just drive back to the hotel. I realize that I have left my PJs at the other hotel. L I call them and they have them so I tell them I’ll be back down on Monday and they say they will hold them for me. I take some Tylenol and lay down ...
Knoxville, Tennessee, United States psubrat93... the kids just love. Bicycles, tubes for floating down the river. some areas have pretty good rapids parts are slower and relaxing. The bicycle trail starts right there accross the road and runs to the other end of town (5 miles). The Tuckaleechee Caverns are amazing and only cost about $12.00 per person for an almost 2 hour tour and it is open not not cramped like most. Many horseback riding stables. The best one is 1 mile from Lodge and ...
Townsend, Tennessee, United States smokeymountainsYesterday was a pretty relaxed day of driving, minus the extreme sticky southern heat. This stuff the horribly disgusting!!!!! We only made a few stops, one was to get our normal beer and glass, we tried to get one at a few places in Nashville but we struck out a lot. So we stopped in Knoxville and we finally got one. After that our mission was complete. We got back on the road and headed to our destination Pigeon Forge, home of ...
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States nicandjessicaIt has been many years since I've been in Cherokee and little has changed except for the Casino which is undergoing major expansion. We were nestled into a nice RV park with a brook flowing through it. Cherokee is close to many attractions and we enjoyed our stay there.
Cherokee, North Carolina, United States captrickWe found a spot somewhere on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. It was so beautiful we spent a few days here and did everything.

We did some white water rafting near our site and met a friend. She was a cat the lived there and loved sleeping in the tent. ha ha ha.... We named her Nantahala, 'Nanta' for short.

It was Beautiful....
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, United States reena.ram.kingI have probably been to Gatlinburg more than any other place in the U.S. It seems like I go there about once a year if not more. I have gone on trips with my family, my friends, my church youth group, my sorority for Spring Break, and even my Girl Scout Troop. It isn't the coolest place in the world but it is close and they have a wide variety of things to do. Since it is in the Smokey Mountains you can do hikes and picnics if you want to be outside ...
