    ... much more spaced out than I'd thought, and of a variety of styles, sizes, shapes, colours and ages, giving downtown an open, eclectic feel.     ... takes off, it makes more noise than when it lands. I now also know that it's quite apparent planes only just clear the roof of the second floor of this motel. Laying in bed last night, acutely aware of those two facts, I would every now and then hear the building roar of an approaching plane with engines at full throttle.
