... Sydney on the way to the hotel. She was coming to New York on exchange from the University of Woollongong to Columbia University where she will study Film and media studies for six weeks. ... on the street to ask directions and deciding to walk, I was followed by a rather too interested crack junkie. It is queens I spose. I found the hotel faster than the cabbie. I had incentive to walk fast. Queens was what you would expect. But with shorter buildings. And lots of snow.
... tea. It was delicious. I bought some dessert to take with us - plum and hazelnut tart and a traditional bakewell tart - which was delicious later in the evening. The waitress also brought us some freshly baked brown bread - such a delight to eat after the highly-sugared bread we had in America. ... not get William the Hippo from the Met Museum of Art shop, he had forgiven me. But was still a bit sad. You can imagine his excitement when he spotted a William at the airport - so yes, Nico now has a new friend. A picture will be attached as soon as we get to London / back to Cambridge. ... we eventually got to our gate and found out our luggage hadn't made it over to the terminal. We tried to sort it out there but apparently it is easier to put it on a different flight than move it between terminals. We agree as long as we get back and the bags eventually we didn't care.
