      ... went in search if something more upbeat. As we always do we got talking to some locals on our walk, who happened to be musicians, and they pointed across the road to jazz bars. We went to one called "55" and the was told the was a $10 cover charge. We baulked at that and he let us in for nothing. The jazz was very good.       Woke up early to the familiar sound of my iPhone alarm. Why is it always the way that when you have to get up, it's always the hardest thing to do: no alarm & our darling body clock gets us up at our usual waking time. Maybe it's just me?       ... that was all forgotten. They were out of this world. Now I love my fireworks and I've been to many shoes but these were incredible. They had then coming off Brooklyn Bridge as well as the Macy boats and it really was spectacular. We then had to get back. I hailed my first cab with 2000 people fighting for them- the girl done good!!! I was chuffed and we got back in time to watch the CNN news coverage of the show. It was unforgettable!!
