... age of settlements (most from mid-sixteenth to late seventeenth centuries) and the paucity of earthquake-related-destruction when compared with western Argentina and Chile. The Paraná River(Guarani for "big as the sea", not to be confused with pirahna) cradles Rosario on the eastern side and continues through the region all the way past Paraguay to Brazil, making it the second biggest river in South America. The riverside ...
Rosario, Argentina nathan.frisch... he wouldn´t actually have room to get out, because he was only about a half-foot in front of the car behind him, and only about a half-foot behind the dumpster in front of him. He got out, looked at the dumpster, looked at the other car, and got back in his car. He put it in reverse and backed up so that his car hit the car behind him. That car, in turn, was pushed so that it hit the car behind itself. He drove his car forward ...
Rosario, Litoral, Argentina mlbierleSo I´m on my sister Julia´s computer in our apartment right now. My computer hooks up to the internet, has full wireless internet connection, and hooks up to AOL instant messanger and Skype, but does NOT work with Internet Explorer, AOL Explorer (a different internet browswer program), or my iTunes store. WHY??? So I can get the internet on my computer, but just can´t do anything with it. And Skype works, so I´m ...
Rosario, Argentina mlbierle... it´s called ¨Por Amor a Vos¨ or ¨Because I Love You¨) which I´m addicted to. Francisco comes home from work and we eat. We eat the rucula salad with oil and salt and then we have this fabulous French bread we eat... mmmmm. Then we eat something fabulous for our main course. Let´s see... a couple days ago, my mom made a quiche, and then pizza, and then spaghetti, and then last night she made milanesa with chicken instead of beef ...
Rosario, Argentina mlbierle... included Communion. There were 15 people in church-- mostly older folks. The pastor was very nice, and somehow knew all about me-- I think Francisco went up to the church the other day to talk to him and tell him that I would be attending today. Today I´m going to go running by the river again... it´s really pretty, and a nice run. And safe-- so don´t worry, all. Looks like it´s going to be a beautiful day. I´ll write more later, and put up pics!!!
Rosario, Argentina mlbierle... I had a free night's lodging. I did discover that I would not die and blow away by sleeping on the floor in the bus station. Sometime later in the morning, I took another taxi to my original hostel, and was able to secure a bed. Maybe I should elaborate at this point in time about my sleeping arrangements. A hostel usually has private and dorm rooms. Obviously, the private rooms are more expensive, and generally are used by ...
Rosario, Argentina jathomaz... and wouldn't actually address the crowd in the entire two hours he was on stage! His new music is ok, as it suits the way his voice has, "developed", shall we say, over time. It's a far cry from the voice of a young Bob Dylan, as it's now very gruff and quite difficult to understand what he's saying half the time. This was ok with the new material, but when he did 'Like A Rolling Stone' and then 'All Along The Watchtower' I felt like crying. He murdered two of my ...
Rosario, Argentina mrbear1... to Córdoba was the same day she had a flight out of Argentina (bad timing that we couldn't overlap more, but good timing that we were at least able to see each other for a bit). One of her cousins, Gerard, came to lunch too. It was great to hang out with her, even if for just a little bit, and nice to see a familiar face. I met some more of her family too at their apartment as she was leaving for the airport. And I ended up going to a couple of bars ...
Rosario, Argentina alexp02Rolled into Cordoba in the wee hours of the morning and was shocked to find the place actually had heating something more than a little novel to me but greatly appreciated considering it was absolutely freezing and Cordoba was seeing the first snow recorded in over 80 years! Got chatting with a couple of Lasses ...
