The school day starts at 7:45 am and I think that this was a rude shock to most, including me. Personally I was on bus duty with my host who is in charge of security. At 7 in the morning the first buses roll in out of the fog and kids spill out to go to school. I saw Ella arrive with her host and head off to class. All the buses are exactly the same, yellow and yes just like you see on tv/movies. They start early as ...

I had a plan and it didn't work. My plan was to walk the Prance and Plunge 3.6 mile race today. The only part I walked was when our group walked the 1 mile to the race start. A large group of neon clad folks lined up and waited for the signal.

... fashion show. I had a lovely Christmas with my family, then worked my last shifts at REI. Even after only working there a couple months I can honestly say I got choked up walking out the door. Those people are so interesting, kind and entertaining that I will be sad if I never get to go back and work there again. Sunday night before I left was reserved for a large group of friends, mostly from college. We met up for drinks and laughed about ...

... It was a white table cloth restaurant without the cloth. We were teated to something called an "amuse-bouche" which is French for something to amuse your tastebuds. Then we shared a grilled summer salad, polenta with shitaki mushrooms, crab beignets (compliments of the chef who had chatted with us) northwest seafood stew. Each dish was delicious and left thrilled with our selections.

We walked back to our hotel and called it a night.
