St. Charles is also on the Katy trail which is a bike/hiking trail that runs across Missouri from near the Mississippi, then along the Missouri river and ends about 200 miles west of St. Charles. I will be traveling close to it for the next couple of days and I was able to ride a few miles of it today.

Today we spent some time in the line ride. First there was the line ride waiting to be "inspected" at security. Then there was the line ride to buy tickets. Once we scored our tickets we had to wait about an hour before we could begin the 3rd line ride of the day (to pass the time the three of us lined up in the westward expansion museum..nobody seemed to want to join our line ride.. j/k).

We then walked to the Arch and picked the wrong entrance where all the student tours enter, but the lines moved pretty fast. We opted to not take the tram to the top of the Arch and elected to see a movie about Lewis and Clark. ... storm. It's only by divine grace (or sheer dumb luck) that we were not in a major accident. The rest of the trip passed quickly, and our drive was heralded with strong winds and bouts of heavy rain. Towards the end of our drive, we crossed over the Mississippi river and felt a sense of calm and peace that we had made it all in one piece. ... blew about six times) and the beds vibrated. I'm so glad that the dog barked and I closed that window earlier. This happened every few hours (I counted 6 trains) until the morning. This stay will be one that we will remember for years to come. :)

Lessons learned…might want to ask why the hotel is named after a railroad before staying and that keeping ear plugs handy for future stays would not be a bad idea. ...
