The next morning we set out for a hike, now Katy's view of hikes is that it's just walking, she was not sure what the fuss was all about. ... hour with just a tourist guide to navigate by followed by a quick swim we headed up to Chinatown. We wandered up through Chinatown taking in the sights and sounds before a top notch Chinese meal at the Oriental Pearl.

Very tired we headed back to the hotel after a great first day.

... out at the beautiful scenery and feeling secluded from the materialistic consumed world. 4 other teams were participating and all the meat was definitely cooked to an amazing standard. My favourite was our team, Cafe West, as they incorporated and Indian temper that had coconut flavourings paired with a spicy marinade. The organisers attempted a blind tasting but, due to most teams having tasted theirs before the judging, this did not work. The winner was a salty, soy flavoured ...

... and birds all along the coast, but the road is in great condition. The Big Sur is a range of mountains that sits just back from the coast and the 101 lies between the Pacific and that range providing spectacular twisty riding with lots to see.
Enjoyed crab sandwiches along the way and met the local beach life guard who along with preventing the assorted beach drowning etc was also tooled up with pistol, taser etc as he also is the law ...
