While the area is slightly depressed, the hotel is extremely clean and safe. The rooms are large and very clean too.

January 11 saw us complete the second last leg of our trip across the California border. We stayed at the Comfort Suites in Stevenson Ranch CA just north of Los Angeles. We did not see much but did visit a great restaurant, Lucille's Smokehouse in Santa Clarita. Tomorrow we complete ...

... that. Thought by doing this we would have one free day in Seattle doing some sightseeing or maybe more rest. Turns out, hell no! The whole journey just took longer! I didn't get much sleep during my first flight cause I was having a headache from the post-surgery so couldn't sleep well despite how comfy the seat was. And the domestic flight from SFA to Seattle just got delayed for about an hour or so. I ...

We left Truckee, excited for the big city of San Francisco and ready for some new traveling experiences. We rolled into Quentin’s office in the heart of San Pablo, a slightly sketchy part of town about 20-30 minutes from San Francisco. Quentin assured us the Scamp would be perfectly safe there, and it turned out he was correct. I told him I was definitely outside of my comfort zone but trusted him. We got situated and caught up with Quentin a bit, having ...

... I have been made extremely welcome wherever I have been and have been met invariably with kindness and genuine warmth. Starting with Patti and John who welcomed me into their home, their friends who did likewise, their acquaintances and all the other people I have met I have been made to feel welcome and at home here. Everyone seems to be bursting with creativity - wood carving, garden design, metal sculpting, music, glass blowing - ...

... with the sun in our eyes. We managed to follow the GPS instructions and negotiate our way to Holiday Inn Fisherman's wharf without any problems. We arrived at 8.30 just as the sun was setting. On our way in we noticed that there are lots of houses in San Francisco's hillsides that are identical except that they are painted different colours just like the little boxes in the ticky tacky song.

    We checked ...
