I haven't seen the chair of my dissertation, mentor and friend, Cynthia Franklin in more than 12 years and we happened upon each other in China of all places. She was travelling through the country conducting trainings. We were lucky enough to meet up in the beautiful Hangzhou - a short train ride from Shanghai. ... is where the fun started and stopped... Our supposed 2 hours back to Shanghai turned into over 4 hours, most of which was crawling through traffic. Having spent over 8 hours travelling the day before and an hour already that day, we all agreed the 13 hours of travel was nowhere near made up for by the sites - plus we had to leave the glorious Pudi Boutique Hotel!! It was weird to have paid good money for 2 days I wouldn't re-experience for free. ...
